How Do I Make A Ceiling/2nd Floor?
So I'm trying to make a big storage building, and I completed the ground level and walls with no problems whatsoever. Then when I went to try a make a 2nd floor, it turned out that I could not place bricks, logs, or planks from the sides of the walls. I tried building up some pillars so that the planks would have something to "attach" to at it's other end. It still wouldn't let me make my 2nd floor.

Any help would be appriciated =)

Okay, there are some tutorials of this on youtube which I would highly recommend, just check out youtube :).

Quick explanation:
For a second floor you need a full wooden platform. Planks can only be attacked to an other horrizontal wooden beam.

Picture below shows it somewhat. Vertical Pillar with a horizontal pillar attached to it. then a bit furthur away you place an other pillar + log on top. then you can connect planks imbetween.
Check out youtube though, gives great explanations on how to create bigger floors and the ability to knock out supports later on.

i added a new video, with comment. this one really helped me. you can build bigger spans / roofs this way.

You can not however add stone blocks on wooden plank floors as far as i know

That's all right, bricks make it look ugly anyway lol.

You'll need a permit, though. Plus a building inspector to verify the foundation can handle it. And if you're doing storage on top you'll need to really beef up the support/rafters. You can check with Castle Story city hall for a more informative explanation but it'll be pretty expensive. You might consider just making another single story storage shed. And if it's not an official building you won't have to have the property reevaluated which would potentially result in higher property taxes.
