Mining
Moin Moin guys, gotta ned a short explanation here... (searched already but havent found something helpful yet)

The only way to get stone NOW is with mining through the landscape - but how do you actually mine a hill/mountain?
I know that a quarry can be used to get stone out of the ground, and a tunnel to mine inside a mountain - but i wasnt able to use the quarry to mine a whole mountain and a tunnel is... a tunnel.

Im thankful for any short explanation.

Try the landscape task. I personally havn't really used it but it should work. Although, mountains are big and'll take a while to destroy.

Hey MrMonokel!

You want to mine a WHOLE mountain down? You crazy dwarf you. Well, I suppose you can use the landscape task, starting at the very top and slowly working your way down. :)

Otherwise, quarries will dig a hole into the ground.
Tunnel will dig a tunnel straight, up or down into a mountain/the ground (when you set down a tunnel task, at the bottom right is an arrow you can use to decide whether you are tunneling up or down or straight - so you can use the tunnel task to tunnel into the ground too.)
The landscape task will "flatten" a terrain by placing or removing ground, depending on how you setup the task.

Hope that helps!

It just came into my mind - isnt the landscape also collapsing as other buildings if the bottm is destroyed?

Ps: The thing is that i want to get my stone without "destroying" the nice landscape - so instead of digging a large hole for stone i want to dig a mountain/hill (im not even sure how much im gonna need)

Thanks for the infos, but i somehow managed now to find a way by myself (crazy that i havent thought about that when i tried around for hours...);

It kinda is a workaround (not digging the mountain but making him collapse) but even saves time compared to mining him down;

Well, if you don't want to destroy the landcape, tunnel down, and mine up the area underneath the ground.

Yea I have the same opinion about not destorying the landscape, shame it will be a while before they implement workshop mods to enable stone mining from tunnels again. Probs play again when they do make a mod like that. In regards to tunneling... its too much of a pain to do that...

Tunnels are actually really simple to use, once you understand where all the buttons are! Just try using them and I'm sure you'll see their value :D

I think it's possible to place straight tunnels side by side with multiple construction tasks. Assign 1 bricktron per tunnel, and eventually, you'll destroy the entire mountain and lag your game.

I sometimes wished the voxel dirt blocks slowly break into rocks if a portion of the terrain collapses, instead of instantly collapsing rocks. Maybe an option to tweak how fast it collapses?

Yes, the pic some posts up shows that; Only make sure to clean everything up before the rocks vanish
