How to make them smelt iron?
I don´t know what i need to do to make them smelt iron.

I´ve got iron,
I´ve got any other resource nearby.
I´ve ordered 8 ingots.
I´ve got workers that have nothing to do.

They don´t smelt.

[edit]
and i´ve got any empty storage designated to take iron ingots

Smelters need 3 things:
1. Iron ore
2. Brimstone
3. An order of how much to make (right click and select small or large stack)

Bonus: Archery stuff requires leaves.. so mine up some grass areas.

Is there a way to asign a worker to the smelter?
I know how to priorize or assign for other tasks, but not for smelting (and crafting)

hold right cligk and select top option while youve setected a unit.
It seems the smelter has problems with storages that contain iron but are set to not accept new iron anymore.
The smelter doesn´t take iron from thees storages.

Have you queued new ingots?

  1. You need to have blueprints queued up on the table part of the Furnace (official name), for Bricktrons to actually bring Iron and Brimstone to the Furnace for smelting Iron.
  2. You are required to continuously and manually queue Iron Ingots when you really need them. They are not automatic to begin with. (Actually, not everything is automatic.)
  3. Iron Ingots are materials for many Structural blueprints, so if you see a white blueprint with no Bricktrons working on it, it is most likely you're not continuing to queue your Iron Ingots by the Furnace.
  4. Each Stockpile can only hold up to 16 Iron Ingots. That's just 2 layers of Iron Ingots, visually. Thus you need to build more Stockpiles, if you noticed there are a lot of Iron Ingots being stacked on the Furnace table.
  5. You can manually force assign a Bricktron to work on the Workbench and Furnace, by first selecting the Bricktron, then hover the mouse over either the Workbench or the Furnace, hold right mouse button to open the Contextual Pie Menu, drag mouse to the top, and finally release the right mouse button to select the option.

As said. I had all res available in storges nearby.
there was an empty storge to place the ingots and i had ordered an 8-pack.

They did not take the iron from the storage that was orderd only to accept stone.
When i switched that storage to accept everything they started to take iron fron there.

Ok, then it could be Stockpiles not being assigned to the Furnace?

If you can upload your Game Save Folder up to, say Google Drive, and share the link, I can try to take a look. Also, by doing so, devs may be able to take a look at your Game Save, and figure out what's going on for you.

I think the problem is that the furnace only checks stockpiles that 'should' have iron, so it detects the stockpiles assigned to other materials but with iron inside as non-iron stockpiles.

Interesting. I should playtest more.
Is this a bug?
