Short freezes right from the beginning
Every time a new patch comes out I install the game just to check out if something was done about the freezes i get. Just to make clear: it wasnt happening right from the first version. When Castle Story came out I had absolutely zero problems and it was running smooth. I cant remember when it started to freeze I had uninstalled and installed it a couple of times since then.

To the problem:

I start a game - small sized map (standard map from sauropod) - select sandbox game, go into the game, wait 2 seconds and do nothing , experience the first freeze for 0.5 seconds. This is going all game long. Remember it's a brand new game I started - no savegame.

My PC Specs:

intel i7 4790K
MSI GTX 970
corsair 16 GB Ram
Samsung 850 EVO SSD

I mean im playing Battlefield 1 without laggs on pretty high settings, for ultra my graphiccard is a bit too weak but ... you get what i mean... where is the problem? Im liking the update videos of castle story more and more, but im not gonna waste any second of my life playing something with laggs.

Any suggestions except "try reinstalling the game" or something...

Don't play the game; it lags.

i saw a comment of you in the forums. you said your sandbox freezes after an hour or two... i mean mine freezes right after 2 seconds. how can i make it freeze after one hour only. or at least 30 minutes. its no problem i restart after 30 minutes and reload and use the time for a smokebreak :D but seriously give me at least 1 hour of freezefree gaming and im ok with it.

After an hour or two it starts to freeze for 3-4 seconds at a time; little bit of lag is nothing.

Hey RR,

Can you tell me what your specs are?

Also, have you tried a fresh reinstall? https://sauropodstudio.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/218389798-How-to-do-a-fresh-reinstall-of-Castle-Story-Crashes-Crash-

Cold-restart the game. This means stop Castle Story, wait 30 seconds, then restart the game. If you are still suffering from lag, then you have other factors:

  • In-game objects are piling up. Find and isolate what makes the game very CPU-taxing, and then report that.
  • If you have 50 Bricktrons or more, don't worry that the FPS goes down to 30 or less. On my PC, I have 200 Bricktrons working on building a pyramid. FPS stays pretty consistent despite it's hitting 25FPS.

my pc specs are in my first post ...
the problem was not reinstalling the game.
the problem, as i think it was, was ANOTHER castle story installed on my other hard drive. i think this somehow happened when i bought my new ssd. i did change the steam games folder and it didnt recognize my old games installed, but they were still there.

interessting. but i found out something else: if i go to options and use any slide control the fps goes down (just in the menu). when i stop using the slide control fps goes up to 144 again (i did set a cap there since i play on 144hz monitor). maybe this information is useful for you somehow but thread may be closed for now.

thanks for the link, i didnt come to the idea that another old castle story installation blocked my new one on my new ssd.

The TheWizol,

If you save the game, go back to the main menu (don't close the game) and load your save file again, does it alleviate the issue?

Get 10-20 sec frezees every 10 minutes or so. For now it looks pretty random, freshly booted computer, new game, old save same for all. Strange
