Best gods?
I will hand it down to Humakt, Elmal and Dostal.
And what happened to Dostal in KoDP? Was he merged with the hunting god in Orlanthi lore?

I'm not as big a fan of Dostal, but the fact that he survives (and that it makes perfect sense that he would) definitely bumps him up. Humakt and Elmal are great through. It's kind of hilarious this series has kind of completely stolen Orlanth's thunder, with how much of his success is built off the back of probably the most "Chad" god I've ever seen in fiction.

I do love Eurmal though. At first I thought it was a coincidence, but now I'm convinced that it is not accidental that a Eurmal devotee on your ring is one of your most steadfast anti-chaos people. Even for stuff that is trickster-esqe, like redirecting a chaos horde, they'll flat out completely oppose it. Really plays into that vibe where Eurmal is a complete joke half the time, and the other he is 100% deadly serious. And you can never tell which is which.

Also a shoutout to Uralda. It says something when the cow-goddess dying freaks people out more than the king of the gods, the healing goddess, and the god of death itself all biting it.

I think Elmal and Humakt are Herakles and Achilles to Orlanth's Zeus and yeah these demi-gods/heroic gods win more followers over Orlanth's boastful nature all the times.
Also Urox does the whole Chad-takes-no-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ better.

But yes, I also love all the food goods, they are all necessary and need to be care for first.

Eurmal is so-so though, but maybe I need to play more of this game.

Personaly i always loved Elmal since I played King of the Dragon Pass, there is something elating about a god that fight and suffer to protect his people. Also he is shown as steadfast and reliable when Orlanth act before thinking. He is powerful but not enough to seem overpower and he is all in all portray as a wisest king than Orlanth.

I grew to appreciate Humakt more and more, he is a war god but not really that bloodthirsty, he seems wise in this actions and as unbiaised that one could be in his role. Also he is determined to accomplish his role to the better.

Osara is also a favorite of mine, unfortunately she only have one benediction to give us but it's a good one. I hope that she will be able to give us more fire benedictions later.

I also like Ekarna/Issarie because I like guile heroes and trade is the lifeblood of economy.

That's an interesting opinion.

In the food goddesses my favorites are probably Inilla, which I find really badass in her heroquest, and Cenale which I was very sad to not be able to give a cult. I hope that we will be able to dedicate her a proper cult and temples in the next ages to replace Pela.

I like Hyalor ad his fight to gain respect among the gods and helping his people; his friendship with Gamari is also very hearthwarming.

Relandar/Lankhor My because they have the useful "advice" benediction, but I prefer relandar a little because he also have the "Instruction" blessing and anything that give you better noble is good to take. And I like the idea of a wise god who has to deal with all of these warriors god.

Know i'm also very intrugued by Shargash, unfortunately i doubt that we will ever have the occasion to worhsipp him but I hope that we will have the opportunity to interract more with him and his followers and not only for fighting.

I'm also fascinated by Yelm, until now the majority of the stories and legends that we have about him are from the Orlanthi point of view which is hostile and I'm curious to know how our clan of Elmali will interract with him.

The virgin "follow the heroquest script" human gods versus the chad "Just attack the thing every time" Bull god. Dude just never lets you down.

Eurmal had a great moment here where he gets his hands on death and goes like, "wow I should probably not be swinging this". Then he swings anyway, shreds the weave and quickens the end of the world by 5 years. Then to add insult he goes "Yep, I should really not have swung that sword."
I can never get mad at this guy. His disciple runs around farting in a blue cape and declares himself Orlanth, the god of wind.

I like the troll spider queen-god too, she seems way more reasonable and big picture oriented than a lot of human gods. Really none of the human gods seem to give a fig about all the non-humans living about the place. You just got to bring her munchies.

Yeah, Urox is cool. I wish we can have an Uroxi and Humakti warriors as our swords/weaponthanes.
Kalrotix Aug 31, 2023 @ 5:26am
We probably have but we don't know the cult of each one of our weaponthanes.

Dostal.

Buffs both food and battles, and his devotees has been among the most useful clan members in my game (got a fella named "Hanth", don't know if he always show up though).

Hanth, Panth are basically heroic characters like Reda and the Humakti chick Ronalda. They always show up, along with the wood carver guy.

I agree with all the other mentions here, but also special nods to Busenari who is quietly one of the most useful and culturally relevant of the gods. Her role in keeping your dear cows healthy and producing their milk is so valuable. Also honorable mention to Urox, Chaos Smiter and how much work he had to put in this game.

UROX!! He's so helpful.

Inilla really gets me thru a lot of stuff.
Knight Nov 30, 2023 @ 9:47am
Urox. From a lore perspective he won't die, and he utterly smites his enemies.

He also is a cheap and high quality solution to most problems in this game.
