Ah it just lets you zoom around the worlds I think?
I havent tried it
"Arcporter is a small tool that will let you load and explore any of the zones in Firefall."
But they've been silent for the past 4 years I think.
yep... They toss some artwork out there to grab some cash once in a while, but only have a bare bones buggy demo to show for the past 3 or 4 years of work...
It's honestly not going to happen.
Looking at the website's homepage currently, it's just "sexy anime girl clickbait".
That, to me, is a big red flag. Typically any game that does this just means it's going to revolve around eye-candy, rather than actual gameplay. I can already see the extra skimpy outfits that you purchase as DLC for your character, since that's what the playerbase is going to be there for if this continues to be the focus of this game.
I'm closing my radar on Em8er for now, but I'll be interested again if the focus shifts towards things like jet thrusters/gliding, special abilities, weapons that feel both powerful & unique, tons of mobility options, lots of gear customization. You know, the stuff you'd actually expect from a FireFall successor.
hey thanks for sharing
I have played some of the alpha tests and the jetpacks and thumping is pretty fun along with the weapons. Definitely feels like firefallto me but yeah it still is in pretty early stages
fingers crossed
one thing that was freaking amazing was oneof the demos showing off all the enemies. you can fly next to them andsee them in alltheir detail. pretty impressiveand they are huge. the enemies dont move but you can at least see the enemy models.
Basically, from what I gather what happened with Firefall, Mark was strongly pressured by Red5 devs as well as his investors), and since he was living in China at the time, he couldn't keep a close eye on the company. He knew they wanted to make "WoW with guns", but he couldn't do much about it, not without consequences, so he gave up the company.
They don't have a lot going for the game atm other than some art and being able to fly around, but he's got a pretty strong vision for what he wants the game to be. He's currently working on a resource table atm so you can thumb for resources, only in this game, you use your hand and punch the ground instead of using a hammer.
I understand if all of you are skeptical, I just felt this needed to be said. I think the guy at least deserves a chance. I mean, who are we gonna trust? Current Blizzard?
You mean you don't fly around and gather resources? Drop thumpers to mine? Fight against an unknown enemy, bent on corrupting the planet? Cause that sounds similar to Firefall to me.
Believe it or not, games take a long time to develop, more so if your dev team is small, and especially if it's a pvp/pve MMO. Imagine how long WoW would've taken to make if it was crowd funded.
reminded me of firefall and i played a few test versions it was pretty cool. But i tested firefall back at the beginning when it didn't even have enemies haha so use to a slow start
