i need the painted collosal squid
I've opened SO MANY rivers and ponds packs and gotten a lot of mythic fish but none of them are painted. It seems like the Mythic painted are the last that I need to get the unlock for the golden packs of fish (which would make my life a lot easier) but I'm just not getting them.
It would be nice if the drop rate was tied to the amount of grown fish you keep in the tank (i.e. if I have 10 grown mythic angelfish it increases the drop rate of a painted mythic of the same type)
I was thinking that perhaps you could have a system to 'combine' regular fish into a painted. IIrc the intended painted rate is 1/8, so 2.5 times that would be the nice round number of 20 fish, which I feel is still grindy enough that nobody could consider it a 'cheat' or a 'get out of jail free' card, but with the added incentive of each normal fish you pull being potential progress instead of an insult to your bad luck, it would be *significantly* less maddening imo.
That said, maybe I should just add a pity timer for mythics now that they matter more...
The drop rate certainly plays a role, but the more pressing issue is the UI/UX. Buying new packs, opening them, and culling the fish you don't need take too many unnecessary steps and add to the overall frustration more than the low drop rate. Opening packs and discovering a rare fish is fun and exciting, but the process of opening packs and selling unnecessary fish is cumbersome and unfun. The low drop rate wouldn't be as big of a problem is the process wasn't such a drag.
My suggestion would be to:
Also having the same troubles, Didn't count how many attempts to try to find the last Painted mythic I had to farm for. Will start counting Mythics binned or golds/rainbows hit in the mean time.
Outliers will happen, of course, but you also know in a customer complaint situation, 80% or so customers won't bother to complain about an issue (I forget the specific percentage, but I learnt this twice through coursework)
So a method to make it simpler when you are down to chasing just painted Mythics, whether it be stats adjustment or some way to earn better odds, Or even a method to simplify opening mass packs (filtering out standards, certain rarities, or other?)
Great little game thou. Very chill.
