Soundtrack dissapointment
Could you imagine the recent Ducktales Remastered without all the memorable music themes from the original game? Transylvania, The Moon... Of course not!
And could you imagine the same for the remake of Castle of Illusion? Well, apparently whoever was in charge of the soundtrack of it did! Gone are some of the best music themes, like the one in The Storm level (my favourite one), the first Toy World level or the the boss fights (among others). Half of the original soundtrack has disappeared.
I'm really disappointed about this.

you can set the original music in the audio options (at the title screen, not in-game). in case of the toy level, i actually prefer the new music by a lot.

Yet that is is not a big relief.
I really hoped we would get nice orchestated versions of all the classic themes, specially after listening to the nice versions of those included in Power of Illusion for the 3DS:

I had no idea this was there. Thanks! That's what was missing for me was the original soundtrack.

No where near as good a job as the DuckTales Remastered soundtrack.
The tracks have some of the most memorable parts removed and replaced with dull forgettable bits. Also whole tracks are missing. It all just sounds really monotone and boring.
And the boss fight music? How could they replace that??
Original music>>>>>>>> new music.

Edit: After finishing the game I switched it to the classic music. No need to switch it back, still sounds great and the tunes are as catchy as ever.
The new soundtrack was a waste really.

Overall new soundtrack is pretty meh. I actually quit to the menu and switched it out with the classic one (as well as killing the narrator) before making it through the forest, then I replayed all the levels with the new one after unlocking everything. The new one does have a moment or two where it's improved over the original, particularly in cakeland (which sounds like an improved and extended version of the original with an additional track thrown in for certain spots) and the second part of the study (where the lights go on and off, unfortunately act 1 study is about the opposite in quality), but overall it's just meh and even had chunks of the original either swapped out with something entirely new or (in the case of toyland which only has a remix of act 2 which also plays in act 1) had something missing entirely. The boss music especially was disappointing. Fortunately the classic soundtrack actually flows better with this game than it did in the original Genesis game, so all you really need to is just change it to that in the options.
