The funkotronic duo are back in ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove, and this time the developers are turning to Kickstarter to make sure the game gets made without publisher interference. Greg Johnson, one of the two creators of the franchise, has pitched the game as a ToeJam & Earl experience similar to the original game.

While being old school at its core, it looks like there are going to be some welcome additions to the formula such as four-player cooperative, upgrades that carry between games, and hats that affect stats. ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove hopes to get $400,000 to release on PC and potentially other unspecified platforms.

Toejam and Earl was a hit in 1991, an action game that was beyond it's time, was one of the first roguelike games, had random worlds, comedy, jokes, lots of good funk music, fun factor and it had a unique personality. All of that with splitscreen cooperative gameplay.

At it's Kickstarter page there is some videos and some screenshots of its very early prototype. That's why you must understand that it's not the final look, but only a concept of the working gameplay.

Now, don't forget to BACK and SPREAD THE WORD about this good news.

I love Sega Genesis. I love Castle of Illusion (and World of Illusion) on Sega Genesis. I also love Toejam and Earl (and Panic on Funkotron!) on the Sega Genesis. Castle of Illusion HD is a remake of the original Castle of Illusion. Apparently there are plans to make a modern sequel to the Toejam and Earl games. This is relevant to my interests. And apparently the OP felt similarly and thought to post it.

It follows the simple logic of: hey, if you like this game, there's a good chance you fall into the category of liking cool Sega-related things --> here is other cool Sega-related thing

i see, i'm not hip on the old games though i did own a sega master system back in the day.
i have been following cinemassacre for a good while now though on youtube.

Sega Master was dooope. Actually, when I go back and play those games today, it was kinda shi.tty. But it was such a significant part of my childhood that I fondly remember as classics games that would be considered garbage or mediocre at best by anyone who never played them growing up.

i HATED him back in the day. couldnt sleep for one night. but i always hope one time either tj or earl would scare him back
