Does anyone know what all the items do? If so please tell me where/how I can find out. This question has probably been asked, but my searches yielded nothing.

Food items extend your time, keys unlock up to two locks (but only those available at time of use), orbs deal magic damage, weapons deal melee damage, and the scrolls either convert tiles to the type depicted or make use of 'em (haven't figured out the difference yet).

They convert the tiles indicated by the letter in the top left corner (like W for Wood and S for Stone) into the tile indicated by the logo (Sword or Stave). Magic Orbs, Weapons, and Keys don't work if there's no monster/lock in your way, so don't use them while running.

Ah, alrighty. Hadn't quite learned what the nature of the scrolls was. That explains why they didn't always do the same thing, 'cause I was watching for the wrong effect. *nod*
