Elephant Quest - how do I collect 10 Miniphants?

It's the last achievement/memory I am missing. The description of the Steam achievement says "In New Game Plus of Elephant Quest, build an army of 10 Miniphants".

I assumed that I would have to buy all the Miniphants I can get in the main game, and then I'd be able to buy even more during New Game Plus, and that's how I would reach 10 Miniphants.

However, after I finished the game, and jumped into New Game Plus, I have found that I already have all the Miniphants upgrades purchased, and I can't buy any more. And I'm pretty sure I don't have 10 Miniphants yet.

Is this a bug? Was I supossed to first beat the whole game, and only then buy all the Miniphant upgrades? Or I am supossed to be able to re-buy the upgrades I already have?

I'm really confused by this, and it's the one last achievement I need to get to have the game 100%.

Okay, I see what I missed.
Turns out, doing Quests for the various Elephant NPCs also gave me more Miniphants, they weren't only bought in the ability shop.
Silly me.

But at the same time, part of me feels like it wasn't clear enough.
Cuz I remember seeing the popups saying "you got more firepower", but I don't think I ever realized they gave me Miniphants minions.

you can't get 10 miniphants in a single playthrough, i've done everything and maxed out teh skill for miniphants, still had like 8
you keep getting more miniphants if you keep running new game plus, i have about 50
and yeah it glitches the lasers so bad at that point its not good

for anyone else seeing this:

You have to do new game plus as far as i know.
