Enjoyable start
I played both play tests so far and I think it is a wonderful concept to add to their OMD collection. I just want to emphasize that there have only been play tests so far. Changes can and will happen so make sure you look at the dates of when posts are made because things might have already changed from when a post was made. If you haven't joined the discord I strongly recommend doing so because there are a lot of detailed and in-depth discussions about the play tests so far and the OMDD team is very active there in the discussions and have been very pleasant to speak to. Plus, if they do another play test they will announce it there if you wanted to hop in.

Barricades- Most of the early posts on this forum about barricade limit were from the very start of the first play test. They listened and changed the limit from 12 to 16. There are several ways to increase that limit as you play so don't sweat. The base of 16 will still give you good kill zones and funnel points. I really like the concept where it forces you to try to be more creative and clever with your placement.

Characters- I haven't played them all but I do think that Sophie (the only melee I played) had a little bit of difficulty surviving in the later missions, though I will admit that I am not the best melee player overall. I felt the ranged fighters had an advantage over melee but this was a play test so they are trying to get the balance right. Several discussions were made about the class balances on the discord so it might change.

Threads- The buffs or debuffs that these give after every wave is fantastic and I feel like will keep the game changing enough to maintain a stronger core of players. It is nice to change your build and strategy based on what buffs you can obtain or what debuff is the lesser evil!

The maps are massive but with the ability to have 4 players on a single map there had to be something done to compensate for that. I haven't played multiplayer yet with this but I can see how the map size would need to be larger to accommodate. They have already changed the layouts on some of the maps they had in play test 1 for 2 and those QOL changes were things I was happy to see and made the map flow better.

I can go on but I won't make the wall of text any more massive. Join the discord if you want to see a more realistic representation of how the game is so far and join the next play test if there is another one!
