PSA: Rift Elementals
Since the game doesn't bloody tell you what they are (And there's at least one thread that mentions them, so I've been wondering), I'm pretty sure they're actually the guys that you can find in the stronghold, near the mission select crystal. The white and blue glowing guys. There are also red ones (Like the thread card suggests, since it mentions red and blue rift elementals, and they look similar to the blue ones.

Google comes up with absolutely nothing if you search for this info.

A video I just watched on youtube actually taught me something new, that the blue rift elementals give you rift points if they reach the rift, instead of taking rift points away. So you get benefits if you can manage to let them through without killing them. I assume the red ones take a bunch of points away, since the blue ones add a lot, but that's just my assumption.

They both only spawn from unstable rifts

Yep, the game should tell players this in like a Tip or something. Just had an entire team chase down and kill a pair of Blue Rift Elementals RIGHT before they'd have gotten to the Rift and undo the damage from the deaths that session.

Actually, after this session's over I'm going right to the website to submit a formal request that they tell new players that Blue Rift Elementals ARE NOT BAD.

Of all the things one could complain about or ask for in this game in its current state, tutorials and info would easily be the number one, no question. It suffers a lot here just because it doesn't have that linear story progression.
I admit I didn’t watch the tutorials that max has does tell you in one of those it’s just we chose to skip?
