OMD Unchained should come back.
not to dimiss the new title, and I look forward to getting my hands on it one day, but I really wish OMDU return. just remaster and make it singleplayer + p2p online connections so you don't need to worry about cost of running dedicated servers... from business standpoint there is no reason not to sell OMDU again? ultimately OMD is not multiplayer only series and dividing playerbase among different OMD games shouldn't be the issue. OMDU repacked into singleplayer and p2p coop experience would be a great addition to the franchise and completionist side of me wants it to return so badly... imaging playing all omd games and getting all achievements for big satisfaction!

wasn't omdu the reason they almost went bankrupt and just got saved by stadia? I liked omd u aswell but i think it was too niche, and they would not make any profit with the invested work.

deathtrap seems to have quite a rough start :(
I hope they don't need another rescue again
I think a lot of people only remember late-stage OMDU and forget that they tried to turn a SP or co-op franchise into a full-on MOBA.

Once OMDU got spun back into more of a proper OMD game it was quite good, but the damage was already done at that point.

i suppose it was due to the business model of being f2p and mtx. i agree the game is niche so it would certainly need good size of playerbase to stay afloat. As a side note idk why many game devs and companies take big risks of choosing f2p mmo route only to fail and end service soon. they are too ambitious and want their games to be like another WoW or LoL or dota mega hits.

what I forgot to mention is that OMDU shouldnt be f2p again, it should be one time purchase game like all other regular games and I think it wouldn't be so bad for robot ents.. if their reasoning behind not to release OMDU again is because OMDU assets and game designs were already dispersed into creating omd3 and omdd and thus such redundancy would not be financially viable for them to tweak and release OMDU again, I wanna counterargue that people like dopamine hits and addiction, therefeore some redundancy shouldn't cause any harm to their reputation and business. see how many classic fps games are remastered and re-released again over and over.

to my memory they couldn't afford to run the servers for OMDU, I can remember before they shutdown they gave everyone free massive upgrades. I'd happily pay for a OMDU release, all they need to do is release the server code, add a server browser to OMD like all other successful online multiplayer games. Deathtrap is a massive step back for the fun factor.
Bring it back please

Best 2 games of the series should come back as a fusion. OMD2 and OMDU.
Call it OMD4U because it'd be giving the players what they want haha.

This is what doesn't make sense about the devs design choices. People want 2 BUT BETTER. And some want Unchained BUT BETTER. So just get the traps, maps, and character (including their kits) right and we'd have a perfect entry. The devs have done all of these reasonably well at once point or another, all they have to do is stitch it together into one game. Let the trap lovers use a heavy trap loadout and let the hack n/slash users use a heavy weapon loadout. It's not a hard concept IMO.
if you google you can find how to download and play omdu...

Thanks for all your inputs guys. I only wish devs reconsider bringing it back for the sake of completionism(?) and personally i want to unlock steam achievements and trading cards with official omdu.

No thanks.
It tanked the whole franchise for a reason.

TBH, I didn't get to play it, but it looked like the best installment in the series to me. I skipped it when it first came out because they pitched it as a MOBA and I don't do PvP games at all. I only found out that they'd come to their senses and added a PvE mode like 2 days before it was closing, when everyone was posting videos of it because of the closure. Was very sad I missed out, after watching all the videos.
Have you tried this: https://github.com/TimeMaster18/Project-Rechained

I did, and it's great!

I wish people were clearer what they meant when they say they find OMDU is so great. Especially since the game practically tanked the franchise so it feels kind of annoying seeing people being loud about OMDU's greatness when clearly there weren't enough people in agreement with that to be financially viable.

I'd argue at least make clear if you're talking about PVP or PvE mode OMDU.

The PVP mode when it came out to me at least wasn't much to my interest and the exp was vastly worsened with how they handled it (no Steam, 2 regions where they later locked me out of my founders edition because I was EU but was playing US, even though it was fine before).

The reason it did so poorly was that it was marketed exclusively as a MOBA, and they were saying it wouldn't have PvE. That caused a TON of us to just go "Eh, oh well. Hopefully they'll go back to making normal OMD games after." and skip it. And though they reversed course on that and added the PvE, for many of the fans, we had already mentally put OMDU in the "ignore" category, and they didn't really do a big push to let fans know they'd added PvE, so a lot of people--like me--just never knew it had PvE until it was already closing or closed.
