are we allowed to switch out weapons / hero skills?
was watching the dev stream and the only weapons that was used seemed to be locked to each hero? is this correct? one of my biggest frustrations in the other games was having the beat the main story just to switch out the weapon that i never used a single time after i unlocked the stone staff (my beloved)

the devs seems locked into turning this into a 3rd person shooter, the least they can do is allow us to switch weapons from the start.

Addressing that perception issue was a big goal for me going into this game, especially with the new expanded War Mages. (I say perception issue because I don't necessarily think traps were too weak in 3...I think stone, ice, and headshots were too strong, allowing players to brute force the game with suboptimal boxes. Regardless, it's been addressed from both directions - trap damage and CC/headshot power.)

Limiting weapons was done for two reasons: 1. I didn't want anything in your loadout bar except traps - again to emphasize their importance. And 2. Sticking to one weapon per character allows us to make far more varied characters because they don't need to share attack animations (bear vs cat vs Max). This actually gives you access to fewer possible abilities on a single character than OMD3.

Also OMD:U had a hard trap cap. Everyone hated it. It was done for server performance. That's not a thing here.

I am guessing the P2F game that is talked about here is OMD:U. I believe it was free to play before it was shut down. Still one of the most talked about OMD games. It had locked in weapons also. If you wanted to have a different weapon you had to use a different hero. each hero also had personal abilities. I still liked the trap upgrade system in that game. I was disappointed they went back to the old system in OMD3.

The Google Stadia-cꭒm-PC game, 'Unchained'.
Your post history in this game discussion is a work of art, not even the best trolls can get so many facts wrong and bad takes on available info.

OMDU wasn't on stadia, it shutdown before stadia was a thing.

OMD3 was on stadia and we are to largely thank Google for the game to happen at all.

OMDD is going to be a different format to OMD2 and OMD3
weapons (and entire skill sets) will be locked to heroes similar to a MOBA or hero shooter

the game director has snapped the stone staff in half
it was overpowered in OMD3 haha. well, everyone was quite overpowered in OMD3
so it's best to go into this new title with the expectation of a PVE Co-OP Hero Shooter Roguelike with OMD elements (namely 3D trap boxing) ^^

devs have also confirmed that builds will likely be more trap-dependent this time around
so gotta bust out them thinking caps!
The fact that the weapons will be locked to the heroes killed it for me. Spent all that time downloading a game that I don't have any interest in anymore because of this. Thank God for game pass.
