New traps
Not to be that guy complaining about an awesome and free content drop but all 3 new traps seem like they could use a buff or something. I've fully leveled and experimented with all 3. The beehive is cool and functions well it just doesn't seem to do much damage at all. The spider web is visually appealing but it's a bummer it takes such a high number of ceiling tiles to achieve what it does. The orc cannon is the biggest offender, it suffers the same fate as the hook shot ballista and is always trying to suck up an enemy that's being killed by a different trap already and nothing happens.

It doesn't help that all 3 are ceiling traps. Ceiling tiles can be a precious commodity in pub games so ceiling traps need to be really strong otherwise you're better off with something that is. Thoughts?

Haven't tried them yet, but I can answer that last part. Kyle (game lead) said that they were supposed to come out with the new sentinel, the one that adds ceiling space at random on the map. But they ran into issues so needs a little bit more time to bake.

But ya, otherwise agree in principle. I never take the hookshot in single player because there are traps that are just simply better. And when going for a deep run, regardless of difficulty level, you need every trap slot you can get in single player. Putting something like the hookshot when you could have (insert just about anything here) hurts you way more then it helps. I suspect it will be the same case for the others.
I think they have some very interesting threads, but base trap are all three a bit niche. They do have some uses though, specially in coop with more loadout slots.

Beehive adds combo points very easily and consistently, it's also organic (see new elixir)
WebSpinner can filter/hold a few small enemies and isn't very expensive
Cannon instakills any small enemy it takes.

With threads, they each have some interesting ones:
Beehive -> Apply poison, can be coupled with coup de grace
WebSpinner -> Pick hunters and extra combo
Cannon -> Golden ticket (free trap)

Note: keep in mind that more combos means more coins and more overdrive, see wiki for more info.
I am really enjoying the beehive with the poison and kill anything with under 20% health threads. makes it very deadly, and will most likely be changed later. It makes having a full organic setup a viable strategy.
I’m disappointed with the Orc Canon. The only visual indication they’re doing anything is the sudden appearance of the red 99,999 value. All this means is an orc was sucked up, killed and shot out.

The problem is you can put 4-6 canons in a high traffic area, and 2 will work properly if you’re lucky. The others just sorta hang there and do nothing despite orcs walking right underneath them.

Finally, when the orc does get shot out, its movement speed is so high that I can’t even see it. This further adds to me questioning if they’re even functional.

I’ve shelved them for now.
