Fav trap is a properly placed briar patch. Love that thing.
I've also completely turned around on steam vent. The recent buff letting you counter inconvenient flyers is by itself such a useful clutch pick in certain maps, but it turns ceiling lasers into an incredible trap and locks out small enemies (+trolls/ogres with the physics traps thread).
It's honestly stronger than ever. It's so good it can and will completely lag your game out if you go ham in placing them.
you are correct and I stand corrected. I think the laser in OMD 3 was the only other trap that didnt have a reset time, not including guardians. I am trying to think if there are any others. I think there was a portal in OMDU.
I also wanted to state how I feel about Briar patch.
if it had the slow effect it might be a good replacement for tar. The spread make briar patch a good choice but the 30 damage I always feel makes it not worth a spot on my trap list. Yes tar does no damage but there are bluffs you can get to increase your damage to enemy while standing on it. Others may think tar isnt a good trap but when I think of the one trap that always makes it on my trap list tar has been there thou 5 OMD games. So if its the one trap you always pick then it must be the best trap.
There is a thread for a 20% slow on organic trap (briar mostly), one for 50% more damage if poisoned (excellent if you can place emitter), one for 5% rend and the organic trap regen is crazy high with it. All are seriously worth it compared to other trap threads.
But even without, it can seriously start very quickly since the addition of the new paid barricade that give a flat 50% bonus damage (can be cumulated). Without the barricade, it's easy to bait orcs in the first wave to stay on it to start the spread. Tar is even a good way to help start it, while going as complement for later burst damage trap.
In the current state of the game, i'll say briar is one of (if not the) best traps. Once spread, it's basically negate any orcs. Giving it base slow will make it broken, at least you need some luck for it.
I often use it in combinaison with tar (which i join you about it's very good and versatile) to help start it and acid geyser spread around inside to help against large targets. It's a very good value in maps with large space you cannot efficiently make as deadly hallway.
As for my own favorite trap, i'll say that the ice spear.
While the reload time is very slow, the damage is good for dispatching small mobs and the capacity to freeze target from afar in small AoE have saved to much of my run. Coupled with the thread that double your damage on freezed target, it help tremendously against high HP pool, flying ♥♥♥♥♥ or mage-hunting mobs.
