This game would suck with a controller, it was meant for an arcade cabinet or keyboard style interface. You can hit a directional button so much faster than you can move a joystick and timing is the name of the game.

What? That is ridiculous. This is meant for a nice tv and a couch for petes sake.
Calik that is the most lame excuse for a reply I have ever heard . This game is a classic and is meant to be played with a joystick. Anyone in their right mind would want to play this on steam big picture with a joystick

the option needs to be there or else this game and future games are a utter failure

and trust me steam big picture is awsome on a arcade cabnet and if any moderator or steam developer is listening they need to put out more classic remakes on big picture like dragons lair with joystick support. You are not going to get an arcade experience paying with a keyboard.
geeez

this version has no joystick support? past PC versions I have use the controller, guess they didnt figure out how to use steam picture since its new and the game is well old. That could be the reasoning there, or maybe for nostalgia since older people tend not to understand controllers or how they work, so it might be a toss up between comfort or nostalgia I think.

With my controller I can switch between XInput/DirectInput. Pretty handy. When I select DirectInput then I can use the application provided to map the keys to a keyboard. You can easily find a key mapper for a controller on the internet.

Great short term solution but clearly unacceptable for this game on steam.. Steam should be thinking in the future to make greenlight more acceptable to using controllers which they have been. I plan on building a mame cabinet and steam greenlight is a awsome feature to have with a joystick or controller on a cab
So there is no controller support yet for this game or space ace

BIG LOL at Daphine
That's why i don't buy Space Ace or any of their games. In another thread the devs said they would add it but they diden't and released another game instead who also has no controller support. I think they'r still stuck in the 80's
same here
