how long/hard is this game?
recently bought it but after seeing the difficulty increase and level upgrades i got heavy hades vibes which i hate. on base level game feels like a stomp even before learning boss paterns so i think difficulty increases should fix that? will it be like hades where i need to beat every increase to get new things? are upgrades just precentages and do they even matter?

When you use hard mode, you can add entropy to further increase difficulty. If memory serves well (i have unlocked everything a long time ago now), not all the entropies are available at the start. You unlock them by playing at certain level of entropy.

Each entropies have a "cost" which add 1% damage/hp to ennemies, in addition of the malus they impose.
For example, the 1st debuff entropy add 4 points of entropy (so 4% damage/hp to ennemies) + a debuff at the beginning of each phase.

So yes, adding entropy will increase difficulty because more hp to ennemies means more room for errors for you, plus some entropies affect choices you can make.
But you will not go like 1 Entropy, then 2, etc ; but rather you can go like Entropy 4 then jump directly to 20, etc. And this until you reach 100 Entropy, which is the maximum.

Then you have transcendance (I believe it's unlocked when you complete a 100 Entropy Run) which is another layout of dfficulty that can be added on top of Entropy and was added with new patch.

And 100 Entropy Transcendant is actually quite difficult. As a player that had already 130h before the patch, this new difficulty threw me off on first attempts.

No you don't have to beat every difficulty increase to get new things. Percentages do matter they just increase the chances of things happening. You can unlock pretty much everything in the game as long as you're using different EVO types as far as I know. You can set the difficulty to pretty much whatever once you're on the hard and then you increase the difficulty up to 100 or wherever you feel like is a good challenge.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

I don't think you have to beat previous entropy to unlock higher entropy I unlocked all the entropy availabilities playing on just base hard. Also does the transcendence mode have a timer still because that's my biggest gripe with 100 entropy.
There is slight increase in difficulty between levels, but other than that, you're in full control of difficulty. If you really feel the game to be too hard, on Normal difficulty you can make it even easier. You can also permanently upgrade your health bar in Hub.

However, the ultimate way of making it easier is to learn the game after all. Getting your "build" by selecting specific potentials and tactics, setting up legacy evotypes for dual tactics, figuring out moveset for your favourite character etc.

Transcendance is applied on top of the Entropy. So the applied entropies and thus the timer are the same.

But while the timer is easily ignored at standard 100 entropy (6 min per phase is very generous - it used to be 4), with transcendance it is tighter because ennemies have way more HP.

If you struggle with the timer at standard 100 entropy, you are doing something wrong somewhere. (There is an achievement for clearing 60+ Entropy Transcendance in less than 30min.)

I really focus on not getting hit at all so I play carefully and reset if I am hit. Also I feel like I deal no damage even with mind Chrystal's to increase damage. I didn't know they increased it to 6 minutes. I'll have to try it again.

Also do ships and spaces like it stop the timer? And phase is representation of biome right just so we are on the same page.
alr thanks for the replays got that it isnt as grindy as hades and a lot more free in upgrades and difficulty settings so yea prob will main this game after finishing ror 2 (hearing about timed mode is great)
