The game difficulty is highly customizable and progressive. While a few achievements ask you to play at a certain difficulty, no one forbid you to play at a lower difficulty if you struggle. Progress at your pace.
You have 13 different characters to play, 3 game modes (Standard Run, Boss Duel, Boss Rush), and 12 bosses.
Each characters have a lot of Potentials(characters upgrades) but you also have Tactics (common upgrades). You have to gather potentials and tactics again in each new run.
When you do Mind Training (standard run mode) You will go through 5 "phases" (understand biomes), which are always the same (for now) but the levels inside changes from one run to another (though obviously once you play enough you will recognize the levels).
You also have a meta Story with several endings if that float your boat.
I have 130h+ and I still have fun with the game. About to try out the new difficulty setting.
Edit : as for visual bloat. Yeah the game suffer a little from it sometimes but once you know what you are doing it's not that annoying. Don't know how it looks in coop yet.
-The game is as challenging as you want it to be; there is also a hard mode
-There's an option to reduce on-screen effects if it bothers you
-The game is a roguelike with a story built around it, so you can either play it til you finish the story, or play it with friends/to completion
It feels a lot of content and replayability ( I just hope latency will be fine ), so I think I'll grab it with the current discount even if for solo play purposes.
-is the networking good or is there some lag/stutter?
I played it with some friends, and it was so fun, and you can strategy the gameplaystyle, for example, i was a ranged attacker and my friend was a close range attacker to distract enemy while i prepare the field with lasers and missies XD
-is the game challenging/hard? I don't mind being beaten over and over.
Honestly, i felt it more easy when played with my friend.
-is it easy to deal with animations/effects in co-op? looking at the trailer and some videos I see there's a lot of stuff on the screen ( and my fear is that with a second player it might end up being a total mess ).
Yea, its super easy, its not a big deal the animations or anything about it
-how's in terms of replayability ( levels, different heros, perks, game modes, etc... )?
Not sure what you meant, but each time the field change over and over, also , the "reward" you select on each room change, BUT , theres specific rewards you both need to agree, example, if your co-op partner wants to go to the shop, both need to agree. So communication is important
Doesn't work as best we can tell. Their LAN setup is terrible. You can't create or join a room, and steam never prioritizes the LAN connection.
We swapped from North America's East server to West and our game was BUTTERY smooth.
The east coast server is awful

When I try to go online it says Login Failed
Does anyone know how to solve this? If not, I'll get a refund for the game.
