Would YNAB help a teenager with no stable income?
Currently I'm 17, I bought YNAB because I've been hearing and reading about it for quite some time, I know it's a very useful program to use to budget and save your mental health, however, while I'm still going to high school I suppose there's not much use in the program for me, or is there?

I'm still in high school as well, and there is definetly a use for a budget. Use YNAB to regulate the amount of times you go to the movies or do what you do. Personally I'm using it to slow me down on buying steam stuff. Once your using your small budget it will be easier to get into a larger one once paychecks become regular.

I was swing trading stocks and building up my savings account while still in high school so yes budget software is worth it even if you're still in high school.

Don't matter if your income is $5 or $500 a week, you'll definitely benefit from budgeting.

If you can understand your budget & build self-discipline at a humble $5, it'll be easier to practice those skills when you reach $500+. Being able to learn early in your life will benefit you all the more.

Practice! Make mistakes & grow from them.^^

If you're still at school, you can actually get a free license direct from us here: http://www.youneedabudget.com/blog/2014/ynab-is-now-free-for-college-students/

I worked in High School to help pay bills. Kept me out of trouble and was useful when I did go to college. I would get priority with on-campus jobs because of my previous experience. During the summer, I could land paying interships because of my work history. I WISH I had YNAB during high school and college. I would be in less debt, made smarter choices, and been an avocate when it came to my life. My choices, my responsibility, and my life. No excuses.

That being said, I'm pretty damn happy about my life... :)

If you have owned, borrowed, or seen money, YNAB is a useful and greatly beneficial tool.

And if you start to using it at your age, in 5-8 years you will be way ahead and in a better position that must of us (i'm 35 and started to use it in october 2014)

Doesn't matter what path you take (arts, science or even if try to live from your parents until you can live from your kids) but knowing a little bit of personal finance it's a must and you are in the right path.

Kudos

Yeah why not, you could use it to look at how much money you make etc. , just don't store any sensitive information there. To protect your and your customers identity.

I'm 16 and using it, I have income per week, but not a set amount each month. My older brothers are 17 and 18, and they are using it, with no set income per week. My parents are using it, they were the ones that wanted us to get it... Overall, it doesn't matter what age you are, or if your income is stable.

If you budget well, you will never have cause for guilt, or get taken by surprise, and always keep track of money so you don't suddenly go "What the-?? Where has my money gone". Hey i'm even budgeting for my student courses in the future! :)

But for me, the whole idea of budgeting your whole 'savings' was just a big flip of my mind, because I felt like I wasn't leaving any money left over. Mostly mental but, for me it was a really hard mindset to change to.

if you're learning good budgeting/savings habits at 17, which YNAB will aid in, you'll be set for life friend

Big YES! If you learn to budget now, it'll help you to manage and understand your finances later in life. If I could return back in time and do that myself, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Even if you dont have stable income, it's very good idea to budget, actually probably even better than with stable income.
