That said they definitely wanted to have a survival feel for this game and said that in the full version starvation will be a present topic throughout badly planned winters not just for you, but also for the town NPCs. You will also be able to choose to help with that or not. NPCs will be able to die.

Last time I tried the demo a few times, hunger was not much on an issue with all the free stuff you find after getting some experience with the game, but food that was supposed to give you stamina didn't, so the thing forcing you to take a break from exploring was definitely stamina.
My dude has passed out three days in a row now after exhausting my food supply.
I've grabbed every deer, bee hive, fish rack, herb I could find and just planted some seeds.
I'm in the early game state (after meeting the stranger at the Hazy Hag).
Hey there,
A tip that really helped me after starting the game was: sell the veggies and eat the meat.
I would probally invest in a fishing pole sooner than later and get a bow, if you haven't yet.
I would suggest planting potatoes and peas, if you are still in spring, because you can harvest those a few times but only need to plant once. You can sell surplus peas and potatoes.
You can also cook with those: With the potatoes and rabbitmeat and animal fat you can cook rabbit stew (which reduces hunger by twelve). The peas can be cooked with onions (a one time harvest though) to spring soup, which will reduce hunger by 11. I'm not quite sure, if those recipes must be bought though ...
Thanks for the tips!
I only planted a couple of potatoes and peas, but I will double-down on those.
If you go to the guy that sell unicorns you can trade 8 feathers for increased inventory slots.
I am a player who loves challenges and loves survival, but hunger is completely out of proportion for this type of game. The game offers so many mechanics and yet I am stuck trying to find a way to not starve to death. It is not a question of how to find food or how easy it is to do so, it is simply an overwhelming mechanic that takes time and energy away from what the game should offer, such as exploration, creating relationships, fixing your farm, evolving and growing your character.
I sincerely hope that this system is slightly lightened.
