Reliable Diamond Location?

Only got two, need three for shrine. Have tried several times in the big mine in the foothills (was where I found the one) and respawn is random - no diamond. :( Have also looked all over the other three portal 'locations'. Have found ruby, emerald, amethyst - no diamond.

Ideas?

I know I found more of them earlier - before I had a gold pickaxe to mine them.

I think I saw some diamond on the island yo get to by fixing the boat

Do you know where the cave with the old witch is? When I first started playing, I came across a cave with diamonds and this witch. But now I don't remember the location of this cave

That would be the 'big' mine in the foothills, on the lowest level. When it respawns loot (and enemies) it is random. Has diamond originally, but can be anything gem when it respawns.

Luckily, there WAS one by the lighthouse too so I could get what I needed.
