Other than that, not sure what could be stopping you, unless there are just certain nodes on the map that are bugged.
Hmm, I've found it to be a lot easier than Stardew Valley's to be honest. Haven't lost a single fish.
I'm on mouse and keyboard and I pretty much just rotate my mouse to keep my cursor near the centre within the triangle, with a bit of leading if it is moving drastically.
And per the post, its seems sometimes that spots are showing the visual cue for being able to be fished, but not being fishable. I tend to have it happen on the spots beside the jetty of the lake just south of the farm, and the one by the camp on the south side of the same lake. I haven't tried a save/load yet to see if that changes anything, but maybe try that?
