Better than Ultramon?
Hey, I've been using Ultramon for a few years now, is this any better? It seems really expensive for a program that does the same thing as most freeware programs can do. Is there something in this software that would be better?

I haven't tried Ultramon in many years, but last time I checked it wasn't being updated. DisplayFusion is updated with new betas 4-5 times per month. If you're looking for a specific feature to see if DisplayFusion will meet your needs I would recommend checking out the the version comparison here:

Thanks for replying,

Yeah I haven't seen ultramon updated in awhile now, so that's why I was interested in this program, but after reading all the features that are in this program, I'm thinking about switching over to this software. Thanks for showing me the details :)

Ultramon uses much less resources than this and a negligible start time increase, this program incresed my startup time by about +30 seconds, that's ridiculous....I am sticking with ultramon....and 30 bucks....RIGHT!

@sGr: DisplayFusion shouldn't be delaying your computer's startup time at all. If you're interested in troubleshooting this please contact us at support@displayfusion.com and we can get to the bottom of the issue. :)

A detailed comparison between different multi-monitor software can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Xeyelax/Comparison_of_multi-monitor_software

I've tried Ultramon, DisplayFustion and Actual Multiple Monitors, and I have to say, I like Actual Multiple Monitors best. It has the most features and it's easier to configure.

Is "Actual" a lifetime update product like DisplayFusion?

You want to know why the program is worth buying - give the support team a chance to work with you to figure out that issue. They have always been very responsive to my email support requests. Good luck either way!

Also this is about half the price of Ultramon at the moment...

Yes, I bought it when version 4 was the latest stable, it's now @ 5 and I still get updates. :) One buy for a lifetime :)

I don't experience that issue, either on my home PC or my work PC, so I'm thinking you might have an issue on your PC or your PC's a Pentium 3.

The displayfusion support folks are helpful so if you're having an issue, posting on their forums would probably produce a quick response, either from the developers or the community.

A good site for comparing alternatives is this: http://alternativeto.net/software/ultramon/

Latest update to Ultramon was Dec 25th 2012. It is being updated. While the update cycle is slow, it's also suitable for people like me who update their software only when necessary or needed (for security reasons or due to new features).

Had i known that there is an alternative for Ultramon 1,5 months ago, i would have tried this out.

I've used ultramon long ago, and then I switched to DisplayFusion and never looked back. I can't remember what made DisplayFusion better. I think the taskbar more closely mimicked the real taskbar in DisplayFusion.
