DisplayFusion

Can I game with one monitor and internet browse with another simultaneously?
That - for me - would be the holy grail of multi-monitor software.

The message board below describes what I'm talking about....
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/329159-33-monitor-gaming-desktop#.

In short, the problem has always been that when you accidentally click on the non-gaming monitor, the game becomes non-responsive. That makes sense, of course, because "gaming" is just another application. So going from one active application (gaming) to clicking on another application (internet browsing) suddenly causes the former to stop registering keystrokes/clicks.

I'm a controller person and it frustrates me greatly that when I want to play my game in my living room that I have to cease all regular computer activities (internet browsing, email, office work, etc).

It really depends on the game. But there is a function to not have a window steal focus and that can work to do what you ask. But Its not 100% and the game needs to run in a window. Its not perfect but it may work for you. You can try it free if you get the demo. I don't know if Steam has the demo but theyused to have one on their Site.

You don't have to have displayfusion to do this. I have 2 monitors and do this with every game I have EVER played without issues.

Thanks for the tip.

Quick question: Is that easy to do? did you have to install a program for that? Or is it included in Windows 7 and there's just some option I forgot to select?

Thanks again.

Are you talking about a two monitor setup or a Surround or Eye Infinity type setup?

I think SoulSeekerUSA is thinking of Eye Infinity three-monitor support for playing a game on three monitors and having a panoramic view.

I'm talking about multi-tasking. Of having my computer run a game on one screen and allow the other screen to basically function independently for internet browsing, video, etc.

No, I am not.All you need to do is plug in the monitor and go to display and have your desktop extended to the 2nd monitor and you are done. It's really simple.

Then you can play a game on one monitor and do whatever you want on the other. I have been doing this for the last 13 years. I used to have 3 but I never used the 3rd at all.

Wow, thanks for the link!
I already bought DisplayFusion as part of a 4-pack with some buddies, but hadn't started using it yet. Now I know straight away how to do it!

I managed to do it: I downloaded and installed Actual Multiple Monitors (free trial 30 days, but I'm going to buy it when it expires). By hitting the shortcut ctrl+shift+alt+i, you can deactivate windows defocus after using a game controller (mine is xbox 360) in the game window. Thus, the game windows remains active, I can go back to Windows with the mouse and do whatever I want, while my kids go on playing games with the XBOX controller.
It works on my Windows 10 installation.
NB: you need to play games in windowed mode!
