You know this will be a huge failure if Epic was desperate enough to let it release on Steam
Absolute trash, I was hoping for Control 2.

Remedy has not got Royalties yet, but they made profit from the development fees. Epic pays Remedy to develop the game and the DLCs, some of that money is profit from Remedy. Remedy doesn't rely solely on royalties to be profitable, they bake profit into their development fees.

Also it's not a commercial flop since Remedy hadn't indicated it's sell less than expected, and their history is they don't see royalties for their games for a long while after release because their games tend to be more on the long tail side instead of being front loaded.

Lmao. This guy Dosto still spewing his nonsense about AW2?

He's been trolling Remedy forums and keeps saying AW2 flopped like it actually mattered to either Epic or Remedy.

AS you said, Remedy made their money by not spending a dime on any part of the development or marketing for AW2. Got paid by Epic to make it exclusive. That = profits before game even released.

Plus, Epic is prepared to lose $$$ on EGS. Thats what they have been doing except for a select few titles that actually made profits. Since Epic is still worth tens of bilions. The outcome of how AW2 performed doesnt matter.

As you have already said, there was no actual goal set by Remedy or Epic that the game needed to make this much money in this amount of time. We all know Remedy games make more money over a longer period. Not on release. AW didnt work that way, Control, and not AW 2.

I do wonder how bad the money situation at Remedy is for them to even consider a convertible loan agreement with Tencent.

I read Concord was $200+ million? But I believe when 505 and Remedy announced Control 2. The budget was $50 million. Its in one of their investor reports I think.

Now that Remedy completely bought out 505 and now owns the Control IP. Who knows what the budget is now. Im sure itll be around the same as the first, if not a little bit more.
