Discord is cringe.
A fair opinion. You could sign up using the official website too.

I tried every chromium and firefox-based browser every time the sign up form (the one that says to try different browsers if it doesn't work) became available, only to find the submission button doesn't work (console spits out an error).

EDIT:
Found out why the submission form never works, it's reliant on Google analytics to collect information, some of which is sensitive and my network blocks ads.

Says the upcoming tests will require a Discord account......

Seems like it, I put in the form that I don't use Discord and I got a rejection email in response. What a clown studio. :claugh:
I have a problem: I don’t know what username I provided on the application form, and I need to change my name on Discord to match it. Is there somewhere I can check what username I registered with?

They're a clown studio because you said no? That makes no sense.

What? I'm just saying the over-reliance of Discord to do everything now is to everyone's detriment. I think that's a fair statement to make.
Bear in mind this was another small intake of playtesters and with no doubt many people signing up the chances of getting in being very slim. The devs did say with each playtest they'll start increasing the numbers they accept though. Hopefully they'll be another playtest not too far off accepting more.

No, it makes zero sense. It's a viable system to organise a play test. Why does using Discord make them a clown studio?

Better solution that doesn't involve bloat like Discord:
I give you my steamID64, you give me a playtest invite through Steam, I play your game, I submit feedback through the same form system that you have for sign ups in the first place.

There is no need for a kids platform to facilitate serious feedback.

You haven't explained how it's bloat.

Discord gives you real time conversation. It allows them to post information, organise play times and find games.

Your method is worse.

So no, they're not a clown studio just because they're using Discord 🙄 You not liking a perfectly viable platform (for literally no reason I might add) for testing and feedback just means you're unreasonable.

It's an unnecessary requirement, introducing additional bloatware when there's more inclusive alternatives. All of those points you made can be done in-game or through a survey, this is the only NDA closed-playtest I've seen that requires gamified slop, definitely comes off as a low effort attempt at making a sequel.

By unnecessary you mean superior to alternatives. Having an alpha available to the public is unnecessary. Still superior to the alternative.

In game? You can have instant access to the Devs in game? You can give a 2 way conversation in game at any time from anywhere?

No, you can't. Not in game. Not in a survey. It's like you didn't even read what I said.

How the ♥♥♥♥ is Discord gamified? How the ♥♥♥♥ is it lot effort when it's superior to alternatives? Honest to god this has to be bait at this point.

It's not superior to more accessible alternatives (also requires an extra logon and can take up GBs of storage space dependant on use) such as a survey, every single DoW game has had global text chat (not just match chat), DoW 2 had VoIP (nobody uses VoIP unless playing with friends on Teamspeak or Discord anyway), every DoW game has had matchmaking and a lobby browser, there's no need to limit the pool of playtesters to Discord users.

I think you might be baiting, especially if you don't see how Discord is gamified, according to your Steam profile you've barely played any DoW game anyway (exception being if you played vDoW + expansions before they were added to Steam).
