Yes, i think its harder than the first one. Feels like all the enemies deals tons of damage even on normal. I don't really mind, but for my taste i would reduce enemy damage, just a little bit.
Yeah, I mean, it's just a hit and miss at this rate, weapon selection would be merely "the one that kills their asses fastest"
Yes and no. Parts are and other parts aren't. Sadly though this game is game breakingly difficult at some points. I've just come to a point I cannot pass, period. I simply cannot beat the game now and I'm really disappointed. I play a lot of shooters, I know I'm not world class great, so yeah yeah 'skill' whatever those jackasses want to say. But if an average player can't beat it with some persistence then you've failed to make a product that will have broad appeal. Early access was better than this, it's clearly not properly balanced or tested in some places and I guess I have no choice but to stop buying this developers games if this is the direction they're headed in.
Seems so. Meaning the "game is hard" part. :) I played the first in November. Enjoyed it quite a lot. Finally began 2 and I'm struggling with a (pretty early) arena. I've been overrun maybe a dozen times. Paying attention and changing my movement and weapons use hasn't saved me. I'm about to hit it again and these comments are, let's say... disheartening. I have patience, and enjoy a tough fight, but still... Oh, well. Into the fray!
Yeah enemies deals huge amount of damage to you, but enemies are less bullet sponges as before though.
Also I notice the enemies are like using walllhack...even you're behind a wall they seem to know where you at and already lock on to you before they could even see you...

Some the maps are way too small and narrow to even move around to avoid damage.
I rely on the lifesteal with the dark tome to survive...

Movement speed honestly could be lot faster...enemies moves way faster than you are...
The forced arena sections on Expert kill my interest in this game. They're relatively small and so enclosed it and the enemies constantly swarm you. It basically turns this game into a bullet-hell arena shooter. Even the normal level sections Expert sometimes turns it into a milsim tactical shooter. Like HOLY ♥♥♥♥. Pick a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ theme! I really enjoyed the first game but this second one seems to be not it for me.

it's hard. i need life steal to survive those arenas normal difficulty.
I was just thinking the same thing today but I am all for it. I love a challenge.
After just finishing it on Normal difficulty, I didn't find it too difficult. The only part that I really struggled with was the Dining Hall fight in Cathedral. The levels are small enough that I don't mind having to retreat back to the Asylum to respec the Dark Tome, and charges of it were never in short supply. I only got stuck there because it was so early in the game, and I had used most of my Tome Points to unlock Passives and didn't have any Active powers beyond the initial Haste. Having Protection or Lifesteal for the Dining Hall would have made it a lot less of a headache.

Try on harder difficulties =)
I can beat Cultic with my eyes close on lower difficulty, try playing it on the hardest..

These arena gauntlets are definitely an issue. Too small, too long, not enough ways to recharge during battle, certainly the weakest part of this game. The first one was superior in nearly every way.

Is as Romero said ages ago during an interview.
Movement Speed....game devs these days are so afraid to give you fast movement speed...
Doom enemies may not be smart or shoot as fast, but you have fast movement speed to run around to AVOID BEING DAMAGE....

Which it doesn't for most modern " boomer shooters " IMO it's like a cheap way to handicap you and make game feels like an illusion of being " hard "

Try playing Viscerafest...it's 1000X harder on the harder difficulties...but it never felt cheap or annoying....because you're given all the tools to run around the map fast and to avoid damage...
Think you might be getting old, brother. It was hard at the beginning, but after I learned the patterns to help avoid damage it just became a walk in the park. I only use the book with life steal on crazy situations, but even then if i were to be more careful I think I could get by without it.

Just learn how the game works and you'll pull through. Memorize how each enemy attacks, their timing of attack, movement patterns, etc. Target the biggest threat to you and get rid of them first asap. Keep moving and remember that you can spam jump. Get rid of enemies one by one as you're moving around the arena: less enemies = less projections in the air.

It was a pretty big learning curve for me, but after the docks I got used to it. Died a lot. Don't give up, you can save yourself from the madness!!
