Game won't even start....
Trying to load up the demo and can't get past the Unreal Engine screen without crashing. Several times an error message pops up stating "Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource". My graphics card is the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super and I've never had any trouble running any games. Pls help because I'd really like to give the game a shot!

Hello,
We will look into your issue with playing the demo and thank you for the Specs. That helps us finding the issue quicker.
Could you try if this helps for now?
Some people are having a error when trying to start the game.
Here is a possible fix for some players: (Thanks to the User Wholf)
  1. Launch the game via DirectX 11
  2. Open your Steam library.
  3. Right-click the game title and select Properties.
  4. Under the General tab, locate the Launch options section.
  5. Enter this command: -d3d11 OR this command: -dx11
  6. Close the Properties window and launch the game.
*If this doesn’t resolve the issue, return to Properties, go to the Installed Files tab, and select Verify integrity of game files. This will check and restore any missing or corrupted files. Once completed, try launching the game again.

Thank you for the quick response! Entering the dx11 command allowed the game to start and I was able to get through the character creation. But as soon as the boat scene ends, the game crashes. I tried multiple times and also tried changing the graphics settings to low. I'll keep trying different things; hopefully you have another fix! :)

I just tried lowering the graphics to ALL low level and got the same result, crash after the boat scene. This time I received an error message stating "Out of video memory trying to allocate a texture!"

Also experiencing this. After boat cut-scene, load bar disappears & game crashes not to long after.

I don't know if this helps:

Long story short: I had many problems with the demo, it is way out of date. The full version works a charm, and the game is really worth it.
I suggest getting the game and trying it out - if all else fails, just get a refund.

Thanks that helps a bit. I'm usually weary of games where the Demo won't even work. But after watching a streamer play the game, it does look really fun and inviting (very Valheim-esque)

I had all these problems launching the game, then I randomly turned off the antivirus. And now I can open the game, enter multiplayer and all that.

Yes, my antivirus was blocking it also, I am an exception for it and have had no problems.

Well I pulled the trigger and bought the game. Loaded quickly after install, created a character and as soon as i got past the intro boat screen, the game crashed and displayed the error message "Out of Video Memory trying to allocate a texture". I was hoping this problem would go away after buying the game and not just trying the demo. Please help, I would really like to play this game.

UPDATE: Tried adding the -dx11 to the game properties. Finally got past the wrecked ship screen. Started going thru the in game tasks and when coming to the "attack a boar" task, game crashed with same Error Message.

I play on about the same system as you, I didn't do anything in the settings, everything works fine! So here's some advice for you: install a clean Windows, all the drivers, then the game and don't change any settings! It's also a good idea to check your hardware, video card and processor for overheating and crashes through programs! Memory too! Most likely you have a problem either in hardware or in software

Thanks for the info Alex. I don't have Windows to install as it came pre-installed and I have never changed any settings and all drivers are currently up to date. I play various games from BG3, Once Human, Rocket League, Cyberpunk etc and have never had any problems like this so I dont think installing a clean windows should be necessary. I hope that makes sense as I'm not the most intelligent PC user :)

It's just that many people don't tell you what kind of junk they have in their system and what they put on it, overclocking and so on, but at the same time they go around complaining! Your problem is isolated, so only your PC is to blame!
It is always possible to reinstall pre-installed Windows!
