Under the table? Shady behaviour?
Firs things first - I am not anti co-op so let's get that out of the way.

I am against rapid release of something that wasn't planned for nor correctly implemented. I'm seeing a trend and now I'm suspicious. First step was the complete halt of the road-map meant to lure in Single Players.

Then co-op was added and a new crowd came in but with it came some odd choices. The devs suddenly pivoted on not only the road-map but also the platform. It is low and shady to offer a game on the steam platform only to do something or implement something that pushes players to other platforms such as Ubisoft, Epic and so on. This platform jumping has drawn so much ire that it may end up being a legal issue.

The reason given was that servers on Steam couldn't handle their co-op needs. I don't believe this for one moment. Loads of games that are co-op run on steam with no problem and games FAR larger than something as small as this game. Then when people ask for the chance to run their own dedicated servers it's "oh we're sorry but that's not in the planning" bringing it all down to forcing people over to EPIC. This is downright shady and I'm wondering if these devs have made a side deal with EPIC.

Their treatment of single players is abysmal and now consists of broken promises they seem to show no motivation to keep.

Their treatment of co-op players is bad as well and their dealings in that regard are suspicious.

I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop and I see one of two possibilities. Either the game goes into near complete stagnation and/or dies or the game completely migrates to EPIC.

How can this group of devs expect to grow the game at all when they now have this many massive projects on their plate: Development of single player experience, development of co-op and development of a game simultaneously on two separate platforms!

The more I watch this games development the more shaky it gets and the more I watch the devs work the more shady it starts too look.

Every EA game gets a similar post from some random conspiracy theorist.

$hit happens. It's not necessarily some secret pre planned agenda. Maybe they are just doing what they can with the cards they are dealt. I know that I don't know and I am entirely confident that you don't know either.

It just got a content update for all that I can't make it work properly so it's not dead. Heaps of content already there even before today's update.

Going from single player to co-op isn't that big a workload once the basics are done. Same content but usually just different difficulty. Need chat I guess and probably a few other features but I don't imagine it's quite the drama you are making it out to be.
Two platforms is hardly an effort. Same game but they upload twice the update volume. No biggie. It's not like they have to make one Unreal engine version and one Unity version or anything.
Sure it's extra work and sure I would love it if they did focus on solo player content because that's all I play and that's all I care about. Thing is that I know I am not the only person playing and it's not all about me.

For all I know they will migrate to Epic and they will remove it from Steam and not support it. Maybe it is their agenda. I don't know. But until they do I doubt you know either so maybe give it a rest yeah? Worry about it if it actually happens and not before. Gonna give yourself an ulcer. You can't control it and I seriously doubt that your opinion is going to stop them if they do go that route so you are wasting your time.
"Going from single player to co-op isn't that big a workload once the basics are done."

You're a white night and after that line I didn't bother reading the rest as you have no clue what you're talking about. You are 1000% percent incorrect, go do research before defending causes where your only argument is an ignorant one. I've personally worked with game engines and game development and worked with game devs as well.

Still not enough? Go see what the game devs of astronomica stated and the wrote a long post on everything needed for co-op. Before you get on me go do even some basic research before you go full keyboard warrior. There's the door, share something of value or let the adults talk.

How many more threads are you going to spam because the game's development hasn't been what you expected?
What other nonsense are you going to pull out of your hair because you didn't get the toy you wanted?

It gets really boring to see how important you think you are, even though you've mutated into an "expert" overnight. Even that is dull, because it happens to so many people when they want to emphasise their opinions.

Maybe you'd like to try to make fun of the Valheim discussions again - or did you get too much backlash there?

Have fun anyway. When you get around to it, besides all the complaining.

-----------

You followed me over to Valheim forums? I'm flattered I have a stalker that needs to check my other posts. Evidently you didn't read the Valheim posts long enough to realize those people who understand game systems and programming not only agreed with me but stated these systems are so basic that I had a valid complaint. You know what I complained about over there? Two things - 1 - that a basic system didn't exist that should and 2 - JUST LIKE YOU there's always somebody with NOTHING to add other than to say...
"Don't ask questions, just consume product and then get excited for next product" - Jay Bauman

Now Mr. I have nothing to do but complain about someone complaining, let me deal with your straw man arguments.

"It gets really boring to see how important you think you are"

Show me where I stated I felt I was important. The only importance I share is I paid for something based on promise, they took my money then renigged on their promise. Shame on me because everybody should be expected to throw their money away and not get annoyed! And shame on me for expecting a gaming company to respect their promises I'M A MONSTER!

NEXT
"even though you've mutated into an "expert" overnight"

I'm no expert but the why you find it offensive and arrogant that I have a relative understanding of programming, have worked with multiple game engines and have worked with game devs is offensive to you is beyond me. How dare I've research and studied in life, I'm not allowed to be a gamer that studies! All gamers are stupid morons with neck beards right? How dare menial me should have the sheer audacity to hold a companies feet to the fire WHEN THEY BREAK THEIR PROMISES.

And now strap in

Even that is dull, because it happens to so many people when they want to emphasize their opinions." And earlier "because you didn't get the toy you wanted?"

I am going scorched earth on you. I did not demand anything when I walked through the door. THEY laid out their plans THEY said they would deliver and THEY showed what was offered and THEY offered that IN HOPES OF GETTING BUYERS.
Then they threw what they promised to the side and kept my money.

What I find interesting is you never once replied with "the company should give you your money back." I didn't ask for a damn thing sweet summer child. I showed up, they offered me a Chevy - I bought a Chevy, they went in the back, filled out the paper work and then when I walked out to get my car find out they switched it with a FORD and YOU have the audacity to claim I want toys when all I'm asking for --- wait for it --- IS WHAT THEY PROMISED ALL THEIR EARLY CUSTOMERS.

(The car sale is metaphorical and I thought I might need to make sure you understood that)

If this game was free - if I was demanding they insert things they never offered then you would be entirely within your right to tell me to STFU but you got your goodies in bunch because I have the audacity to hold them to their word!

You want my stop talking then simple - tell the company to get back on track and start delivering what they ALREADY OFFERED or tell them to give me back my money. Then bingo problem solved but if you want me to be a little sheep that does nothing but bend over and let companies do whatever they want despite their promises you've got another thing coming sweet cheeks, now go stalk someone else, or stalk me some more, I couldn't care less.

Stalker? Nice try to devalue me and invalidate my words. Well, that was a really lame attempt on your part. It just doesn't work.

I strongly advise you to familiarize yourself with what Early Access means. It could save you a lot more frustration and irritation in the future.

You've purchased an unfinished product, and changes are simply still to be expected upon completion.

Furthermore, it certainly doesn't state anywhere that the content you were hoping for won't follow. Work on it has simply been delayed.

Is that really so difficult to understand? Does such a banality really justify your numerous rants and your bad-mouthing of the development studio?

If you actually believe that, and if you think your postings in a game forum on Steam have an impact on the business practices of the gaming industry, then that speaks volumes about your big-headedness.

I really wish you to have fun. If you get around to it, despite all your complaints and self-justifications, that is.
