In the meanwhile, let me look around and see what I can find.
(Also, that is truly herculean effort on your part to try to play our game -- I'll feel terrible if we can't get this working for you.)
Honestly, I wish I could promise you that Primordia is worth all this hassle, but I'm starting to get nervous suggesting that you spend more time trying to get it to start. (Honestly, given the value of your time, you might be better off just buying a $5 substitute mouse.)
Thank you for the quick reply, I wasn't expecting it to be an antivirus issue but I probably wouldn't have noticed what was causing it if I hadn't downloaded the game you linked and saw that it was working temporarily. I've got at least 2 other games on the AGS engine on my backlog so at least I should be able to play those without issue now.
I consider this one of the finest "technical tap" (https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/technical_tap) fixes to Primordia of all time. Of course, this may be like a grueling mountain ascent only to discover that you now have a giant view of a dump (literally, since one of the first locations in Primordia is a junkpile), but hopefully at least one of the AGS games will be worth it!
