Wolfenstein 3D mods on Steam
Recently I had the idea to figure out how to play Wolfenstein/Spear of Destiny mods on Steam. Basically I want Steam to count time for Wolfenstein 3D when I play mods. First idea I had was to just copy and paste everything. I renamed the mod exe (CSTORM) to Wolf3d. First I backed everything up, then replaced everything. I also tried to delete all of the WL6 files, WL6 is the extension for vanilla wolf files. the file extension for the mod I'm using is WSK.

Problem 1: Upon deleting the WL6 files, Steam just redownloaded them. If I can figure out how to stop steam from automatically redownloading vanilla Wolf3d files, then this would fix everything

Problem 2: Upon leaving the WL6 files in with the WSK files, the mod will boot up under Steam, but I'm guessing due to the presence of the WL6 files, the mod crashes after a few minutes of play.

Problem 3: Attempted to leave all the vanilla files alone, put the CSTORM folder in base. Set launch options to target and execute CSTORM. didn't work, Steam booted up Vanilla Wolf3D

Problem 4: I had the idea that dosbox that comes installed with Steam Wolf3D could possibly be the problem. Installed Dosbox onto C drive. Copy, pasted and replaced dosbox from the freshly installed dosbox into Wolfenstein3d/base, now the mod boots up under steam and/or when i click on dosbox but the game is stuck in the "are you sure you want to exit" sign. If I hit N for no, it just comes up again. Only option is to hit Y for yes to quit.

I'd appreciate any ideas, tips, tricks and help to get this work. Anyone have an idea on whats making the game crash or how to stop Steam from downloading the files from vanilla wolf when I remove them? I haven't attempted to try an SDL version of a mod yet, I plan on doing that after I get the regular mods to work through Steam.
