What is the best way to play Wolfenstein 3D

I just purchased this game and I want to know the best way to play the game.
If you have any ideas, please let me know.

I use a windows 11 software, so I can't unrar a file.
If there is any other way to improve Wolfenstein 3D without having to unrar any files or delete any, please let me know.

Windows 11 has no impact on extracting RAR files. Just install the appropriate software to do so. WinRAR and 7-Zip, for example.


As far as your question, I'm not sure what you mean. Are you asking for mods? I played this game over and over back in the day. I'd say vanilla is the best way to play the first time.

If u wanna use ecwolf and choose the sod or the base game withiout moving files to another place follow this steps:

ust drop ecwolf files into your fav folder. If u want u can rename ecwolf exe to dosbox exe in order to launch it via steam and close it. Then this is the most important; go to appdata\roaming\ecwolf and open the ecwolf.cfg with notepad and modify the line called "BaseDataPaths ="

BaseDataPaths = ".;$PROGDIR;C:\\Users\\Nishi\\AppData\\Roaming\\ECWolf;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Wolfenstein 3D"; ---> this line trigger ecwolf launch only the base game.

YOU need to add the path of spears of destiny exe to this line in order to ecwolf allows you which game u wanna play sod or the base game and u will get something like this

BaseDataPaths = ".;$PROGDIR;C:\\Users\\Nishi\\AppData\\Roaming\\ECWolf;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Wolfenstein 3D;C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\Wolfenstein 3D\\base\\m1";

and now u can use ecwolf via steam with the option to choose which game wanna play
