Anyone else remember Ring of Red for PS2
"The game is based on an alternate history theory that after the defeat of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy near the end of World War II, Japan was conquered and occupied by both Soviet and American forces - rather than solely by the US, as in actual history. The occupation created two countries, consisting of the north governed by a pro-communist government and the south by a pro-democracy government with Hokkaidō occupied by Soviet forces. Tensions between the two Japans were in an all high in the Cold War with a Japanese War (similar in cause to the actual Korean War) taking place with Armored Fighting Walkers, giant walking mechas being used with great success by the both North and the South militaries ."

- From the wikipedia page for Ring of Red.

Pretty cool concept. Installing now. See you out there!

I have no idea what gameplay that had but Steampunk-ish alternate history lines are pretty common (especially in Mech-pan). Personally I love those, although the complete Mech games don't appeal too much to me.
It was a grid based over-world where you had individual pilots complete with crews for each steam-mech. You followed a pretty anime-ish story line and had persistently upgrading stats etc and it was just really damn cool. I miss third party japanese titles... I never had a PS3 and I feel deprived.

Hells yes I remember it! Still got it infact. I also believe (But don't hold me to it) that they re-released it in an HD version for purchase only through the Sony Store on PS3.

But what does that awesome game have to do with this.... thing?
What!? That makes me sick dude I wish I had a PS3 now :[ maybe they'll keep it up for PS4 or something.

Dude have you played this yet? It's like the same thing you get cards for ground forces etc. You don't have crews onboard the mechs.

I wouldn't be surprised if the developers claimed RoR to be an inspiration for this title.

Not really interested in it. Never really liked CCG's as video games, and I don't like the look of this one. One of the things I really noticed is the few amounts of cards/units that it showed on screen at any one time, I prefer my games to be more, "Grand" if that makes any sense...

They did in fact re-release it on PS3 with HD visuals.
