recommend you use notepad++ to open the xmls but browsers or text editors can do it. then press ctrl+F and type a word from the tech you are looking for.
the internal name for planetary invasion for example is AltarianPlanetaryInvasion, but some of them are not that obvious.
anyone know why?
I cannot figure out which "tech tree" it is using, because it sure as hell isn't Terran.
in fact, you can correctly type the internal name for any tech, and it will say "not found in player's tech tree", and that's not because of a typo, because that gives the "unkown" echo instead.
so, to be specific, does anyone know either:
which tech tree the main (arcea) campaign uses, or what specific prefix one should use in order to unlock a specific tech within the campaign?
it's driving me nuts.
that, or which files to edit to control the techs available at the start of each mission, since it does not at all take into account what you researched in the previous mission.
it's "contingency" fwiw.
so you type in the normal internal tech name, but preface that with
Contingency_
and the files containing the internal names are in the campaigns/campaign/game folder instead.
I am playing as Terran in a normal game and I want to unlock Barren World Mastery. However when I type TerranColonizationFocus3 into the console, it returns "not found in player's tech tree".
So does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? What tech tree do the Terran use if not the Terran one?
In the techdef file we have for example this line:
<InternalName>GenericColonizationFocus2</InternalName>
And we need only: ColonizationFocus2
In the consol I used this: unlock MasterColonizationFocus2
So you need to use the "Master" before the tech name.
Other example:
unlock MasterTerraformingTech
