yes there is ;) ... its even the best 4x space / grand strategy game :P.
its called: Distant Worlds Universe...check it out ;).
It's like clock work.
A debate on 4x games on steam, GUARANTEED Xerberus will show up waving at DW flag ;)
Does it has more micromanagement than EU4 or same level , if it has same level i will try it and tell me the top 5 reasons why you like it best?
I generally love Stardock games, but the GC series has got to be one of the most overrated 4x series in history. I mean honestly...we're playing connect the dots with colony buildings. Oh look, if I put this factory next to this factory I get 2 more production. Isn't that revolutionary???
The space combat is sub-par and has no interactive elements. But I guess that saved bundles on development costs so that's all good.
The colony/empire management isn't anything better than most 4x games on the market that are about constructing buildings for specific bonuses. I'd actually say that Endless Space was just as good in this area if not better. I didn't have to fiddle with silly hexes.
I'll probably be told I just don't get it. I DO get it. I understand the game. I'm just not impressed by it. I guess less is more now or something.
Star Ruler 2 is a fun and innovative game. It gets very much right. But more importantly, its systems are fun to use and feel rewarding. Exploration yields rewards that are interesting and have meaningful impact on your empire.
More imporatantly...it's fun! The resource system with it's tiered levels of dependency is very well done and requires some strategic thinking as to how best to grow your empire. The research system is very cool and the scale that you can build at is insane. You can make artificial planets!! Where in GC 3 can you do that? Further...where can you strap thrusters on a planet and move it the hell around? Where in GC 3 can you collapse stars or blow planets up?
Maybe DLC will make GC3 a good and FUN game, but I have serious doubts.
Sorry, no it isn't. Not a bad game, personally i am not a fan, though I can see why others are. It is not EU4 in space though.
So since i dislike Civilization 5 (well most of them anyways) i guess i won't like GalCiv 3 either, don't get me wrong they are not bad games, i just think that paradox games such as EU4 does empire management or nation management better in every way, in diplomacy, warfare, colonization, resources, building etc and with this being said i guess i should get Star Ruler 2, seems like a great game, just not sure how is it is to get into.
Despite the fact that it is an RTS 4x, you can pause at any time to deal with research, diplomacy, planet management etc. It isn't hard to get used to.
Yeah i also prefer RTS games with pause rather than turn base with hex, they are just more boring. But how about replayability and also how long is lets say a game with medium sized galaxy, i do love long games that i can play for days.
Games can go for a really long time. And you can have massive galaxies as well. And also multiple galaxies within a single game. So really, it is up to you and the number of AI opponents. My second game lasted for over 30 hours and that wasn't on a huge galaxy either.
Alright, last question, is it easy to get into, or do i have to watch tutorial videos? Never played star ruler 1
Ahahaha.
I've never needed to watch a tutorial video for ANY game I ever owned so I'm not even sure how to answer you. Play the tutorial and you should be fine. The rest you can learn by a simple question or 2 on the forums. It's pretty intuitive though.
