change language?

I have steam set to english, but ingame (most) descriptions are in german. Can you change the language somewhere? Or does the game take the windows system language as reference?

Hey mate! It does go off of your windows language I believe. Making a drop down to change the language is actually a great idea.

Will have to look into how difficult this would be!

Regarding your language question, the game does default to your Windows system language with Steam as a secondary reference. To switch it to English, you can add a startup parameter in your game's launch options. Here’s how:

Right-click the game in your Steam library and select Properties.
Under Launch Options, type -culture=en to set the language to English (or the other languages we support).

If you’re open to it, we’d love to hear more about what wasn’t working for you. Any details would be really helpful as we work on improvements. Thanks for giving the game a try, and best of luck!

Thanks for the detailed feedback. Since i love this kind of game, and I'm astonished that two people from the development team answered, my assessment may have been premature.
It's just that I encountered a few things playing the tutorial that are complete deal breakers for me, that I quickly gave up.
I will give it another try if the most annoying of these is due to my lack of knowledge:
How do you transfer items from lockers/loot crates to your inventory?
Double click, shift/alt/ctrl click didn't work.

No problem survivor! We need to take another pass on the tutorial for sure. So much has been added since that was made ~12 months ago :o

You should be able to just grab the item and drag it over to your inventory. The quick transfer hotkey is CTRL + Mouse 1. So you hold down your control key and then click on the items in the storage that you want to pick up. You should see it jump from the container into your inventory :D

Does this work in the demo, too?

i reinstalled the demo
- ctrl + mouse1 does not do it
i left the demo because it wasnt clear how to make explosives - are the pipes in the area? must i craft them?
- i have to click galore, just to change from crafting, to backpack, to missions omg
- i have to put crafting materials in a crafting area - its 2024!
- started normal game. when i go outside, sometimes zombies just die from standing there - is it rain?

i have a really hard time continuing this, i m sorry, i guess this level of absence of QOL is just not enough nowadays... and i actually played and half-enjoyed savage lands, just to give you a feeling of what i am willing to cope with ;)

No worries at all mate. We still appreciate you taking the time to let us know, rather than just uninstalling and dipping out quietly. We will definitely keep this type of first experience in mind moving forward.
