Eventually, I want to take Jomungur's sterling work:
http://aow3strategyguide.weebly.com/
and explore each concept with either video or screenshots.
In the meantime, I recommend you read that, or if you are more of a beginner, read this:
http://ageofwonders.com/beginners-strategy-guide/
and just play.
Thank you for the reply. I've seen your avatar around the AoW III forums as well and judging by what I read from you there so far -assuming you're the same guy- you seem to know your stuff quite well.
Anyhow, I've had the experience that watching some of the best players tackle a complex game like this (Filth Robot for Civ V multiplayer and Arumba or DDRJake for Crusader Kings II & Europa Universalis IV for example) improved my own game tremendously in a very short time. I'm not really in need of a basic tutorial or beginners guide I get all of the basics. I've also already read about half of the weebly guide before already, which truly is excellent - those are however quite high level tips (which is good), but it's still quite different from watching a "pro" react and handle the random dynamics arising from concrete strategic and tactical situations.
A video of a match between two or more pro level players would be perfect to learn from as well, even if in a worst case the videos are without commentary (as I imagine a AoW III pro match isn't as cryptic to watch as say a Starcraft 2 pro replay). I just want to learn from "the best", because right now by my own estimate I'm exiting the beginners phase and entering the intermediate level, so I could not necessarily tell the difference between advanced and pro level play.
Actually I just got some hits for a match with "Jomungur", the guy who wrote the mp guide and even if that things is close to a year old by now I suppose at least the basics still hold.

Almost all of those videos are from old versions of the game, mostly pre-Golden Realms. Regardless, they should give you a good idea about how to go about things. I highly recommend Garresh's Rogue video, it's very useful even though the class has underwent numerous changes.
I haven't seen/heard of anyone doing commentary or posting videos more recently. I'm sure there are some, but I've not been on top of finding out.
