Arch Druid: how does revive work?
Hi,

i just played an Arch Druid, but i was never able to revive a fallen unit. When the unit ist still alive, i cant cast revive on it. When the unit is dead i cant use the spell either.
How does it work?

Have you tried to use Revive on the corpse? (In battle)
Doc Holiday Nov 6, 2014 @ 1:50pm
yep, it didnt work.

Did you use it on the corpses lying around or on the hex where the unit was when it died? Because quite often the bodies tend to get tossed around a bit, which makes it hard to judge where exactly the dead unit is.

i just tried to click on the hex where the unit died and it doesnt work. Neither does clicking on the corpses.

Oh wait! i just realized that the revive spell is from the arch druid class! It has nothing to do with Master of Creation. I will change the title of this thread accordingly.

But still, this doesnt solve the problem.

Does anybody know how this spell is supposed to work? Do i cast it on a unit that lives or on dead ones?
You talking about Revitalize (the Arch Druid spell) not Resurrect (the Creation Mastery spell), right?

Resurrect, as mentioned, should be used on the hex where a unit died.

Revitalize must be used on a living unit, usually one that has already attacked/finished its turn in combat. I assume this is the one you are using. When used on a unit that has already moved and attacked, you can essentially give it another turn with the spell.

If used on a unit that hasn't moved at all, it will have no noticeable effect.

Alternatively, are you talking about Revive Instinct?

This only affects enemy mounted units and gives them Feral Mount which reduces Morale and Movement Points. It should only be used when the enemy has mounted units. It's more effective when there are a decent number of mounted units.

Damn it! This shows you how important translation is!

Im talking about Revitalize, but in the german Version this Spell is called "Wiederbeleben", which can be translated to "Resurrect/Revive"..... Of course that doesnt mean the same as revitalize.

Because of that i thought revitalize works like Phoenix Warrior(Warlord) or Rebirth(Theocrat).

Thanks to Rosencrantz and all the others for your help.

Und das ist mit der Grund warum ich seit über 10 Jahren kein übersetztes Spiel mehr angerührt habe. Im Original ists halt einfach immer besser.

I guess that could be a reason for confusion, but the spell has a description which should more or less clearly tell what it does (even translated to German). Am I right?

Well the description is also misleading, due to the wrong translation of the word revitalize.

The first sentence in the description says:
"Channels the envigorating properties of nature to revitalize target friendly unit."
in the german version it says:
"Kanalisiert die Heilkräfte der Natur, um eine verbündete Einheit wiederzubeleben."
and that means:
"Channels the HEALING FORCES of nature to REVIVE target friendly unit."

After reading that i thought this spell would revive and maybe heal friendly units.

Reminds me of the first official WoW guidebook, which translated "charge" as "aufladen" (which means charge as in "charging a battery")...

I remember a manual translated in Dutch. It translated Turn Undead in (after translating it back) Become Undead. It only got worse after that.

Heh, nice. But next it should say that it removes all cooldowns and gives movepoints to the unit, shouldn't it? Though I guess it could be understood as it resurrects unit and then gives all these things...
