Feels really rewarding if you went out on a limb to start a 15 turn empire improvement and it just suddenly pops. :D
It would be much better if you could plan for it in some way or it worked on the turn after it poped up (instead of the previous one).
I mean all the other events you can use in some way or are affected from them. Like Dwarf Comet +40% production, sure can choose what to produce and gain some turns.
That said, holy thread necromancy, batman! Have a cookie, you earned it. :D
or just make it give 40% more research for 4 turns or something we can work with.
this is a lame decision just like the no rollover of production and research points
Researching something for free is all upside.
Downside is not knowing when it triggers.
Production and research both roll over in the new game by the way.
I think BBB is part of the old guard and averted to change :p
I get the feeling of wanting to be able to plan around stuff instead of just being hit with an after the fact "tada, this tech was free" pop-up, but I don't feel it's hugely important one way or another. I wouldn't mind if they changed it, I'm fine with them not changing it. ^^
Not that old! :P
Also, I have pushed/am still pushing for loads of changes.
and if you think I am change averse you should google the forums when the game released and people were whingeing non stop about the new stuff in AoW3.
Sure, it's not at all the same as the first - but what game in what series is, exactly? Imagine having to print out the same game with slightly improved graphics again and again if you're actually the creative type and want to, well, create.
I feel for those poor schmucks doing the annual pay-to-win gambling sports game entries. Their existence must feel like one of the circles of hell.
Thing is, I started playing AoW1 in 1999, and I remember when AoW2 came out, and the outcry then (smaller maps, Wizard throne mechanics, no unit descriptions, campaign split along 3 missions before your character got reset, Merlin as a character...)
