please don't nerf it... ghoul curse is not OP.. it doesn't work all the time (%rate is much lower than u think).. it only manages to turn a dead unit to a ghoul if you're really really lucky.. that's all to it.
death bringer's health is low too thus this skill helps to compensate that. lifesteal ain't that great when your hp pool is low and get surrounded by other units. they can only walk too which makes them more vulnerable when engaging in battles with walls blocking them.
each unit has its own pros and cons.. imo Undead is already pretty weak and hard to use. It's only when you get to summon dread reapers is when they become powerful.. yet that takes up lots of turn/knowledge before you'd reach there.. their power is close to that of a sorceror.. where late game summons make a huge turn to their offensive capability.
try to use Undead vs an early game rusher like the Dreadnaught class.. then you'd really feel how outclassed you are early in the game.
They don't have Life Stealing, only when you got the Vampiric Hunger Empire Upgrade(Which you should have by that time...)
As for your fears of the Deathbringers replacing the Bone Collectors, they are much less upfront tanking units. Sure, Tireless+Total Awareness+Life Steal is very strong vs lower tier units, but they have trouble holding their ground against other T3 units. Bone Collectors are much better at this, they can crush a hole in the wall for your Army of Random Ghouled Independents, and the collecting of corpses makes them pretty scary late in big battles. I've had them reach the likes of 300 HP.
In addition, the Necromancer has an (early) empire upgrade that gives *all undead* vampiric touch. So, the life stealing advantage is not a big deal.
Imagine a bone collector, eating 3 corpses or 3 caventers on turn one. It gets +6 damage, +60 max health. In addition, during combat, it can consume corpses and attack on the same turn! That makes for a lot of healing!
So, I do not think it needs any changing. They are both suited to different situations and playstyles. I think that the best ability of the Deathbringer, which rightfully puts her above bone collector, is the ability to teleport a short distance, no matter how many actions it has left.
