the poor connection thing
why do they think this is a good idea? Alot of people have been getting this and i happen to have a pc who can run a space engineer server at full specs with a ping of only 56.

I honestly feel they should just remove that feature and let "poor" connections host. It would probably solve the situation instantly.

I am curious to see who else thinks that feature is doing more damage than good.

i'm not sure if "thinks" is the right word here, maybe "believe" is a better word, because there is no data on those "poor" connections trying to host a game yet. so it just goes down to what one believes.

@triumph and the ppl with that problem
maybe you should make an experiment and create a beta patch just to find out how this goes?

and honestly i believe, that this game is best played in play by email mode.
It allows you to play longer drawn out games, do manual combat, and requires less time at a time to do it.
Also it allows your mind to think about strategy an tactics, and write more smack talk, or stories about what you are doing, which is a big part of the fun too.

'Poor connection' means that nobody can connect to you from the outside (but you can connect). So you can't host because of it as host must be reachable. At least explanation is something like this.

i dont have a poor connection though. I am pritty sure space engineers is way more taxing on the internet than AoW3.

It's not the matter of ping and bandwidth, it's ports and, well, connections.
I forgot to give this link: http://ageofwonders.com/support-2/networking/
Though all of this (parts which are doable) hasn't helped me with the same problem.

Yes for a green connection you need an open connection (usually port 14800). Here is guide that explains howto do this.

ive tried the port fowarding and it still doesnt work.

@Gravity Muffin: do you have any non-windows firewall or Anti-Virus running which might interfere with the game?
Gravity Muffin Feb 19, 2015 @ 7:40am
only avg and i doubt that interfears with it. Might be a legit problem with the game. That's all I can think of.

Actually some Anti-Virus or non-Windows Firewalls do interfere with the game, you might want to exclude the AoW3 executables.

In addition please try the following to make sure you have an open network:

1) If you have multiple modems/routers in your network - e.g. university network - be sure to set your router to 'bridge' mode.
2) Verify if port 14800 is really open using: http://www.canyouseeme.org/ [or another port you my have set custom in the launcher]

If they don't work, switch over to the Debug version of the game - flip the toggle in the Launcher under Misc, called 'Run in Debug mode'.
Start the game and try to get into multiplayer. Then send me the Log you find in "..\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\AoW3\Logs"

You can email the log to AoW3Support@triumphstudios.com and please mention this topic. Thanks!
