The Multiplayer Connection Guide DOES NOT WORK.
TITLE.

I've tried EVERYTHING on that damn support page, and MORE.. It's been 4.5 hours. And this is all the dev's and mods have been tossing at us. It's as though we, the users who haven't been able to play with our friends for said, have to pretend as though we're not having issues, because SPAMMING THE LINK TO SUPPORT WILL MAGICALLY SOLVE ALL OUR PROBLEMS.

Give us something more guys, c'mon.... This is beyond frustrating.

Edit:

Issue is still not resolved for a lot of us. But The dev's and mod's are actually working with us which is a big sigh of relief. Hopefully we can patch this hole and get a fix out soon. Please skim through before you post!

Edit 2: I went to bed at 9pm est last night, and just woke up 15 minutes ago after slapping my face to stay awake for these developers.. I've only seen a single update from them in the past 9 hours I've been away. If I can stay up 30 hours doing my real job, then coming home to help them with their job, for a feature of a game that I paid for, you'd think they could give a little more effort on the update side.

Początkowo opublikowane przez Thalos:
For some reason it's working in Debug mode now. I can acces the game list in online play but once I disable debug mode in order to actually be able to join those available games the game tells me once again, that the server can't establish a connection to my computer

This is likely because firewall exception allows the debug executable of the game, but blocks the non-debug version. Windows is something messing up here; sometimes (we don't know why) it shows that it allows AoW3.exe but in fact it does NOT. Remove this firewall exception for AoW3.exe and add it again. Like so:

1. Open the Control Panel
2. Open Windows Firewall
3. Press Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall
4. Press Change Settings
5. Find 'Age of Wonders III - Game', and remove it.
6. Press Allow another app.
7. Browse to the steam executable of AoW3 (for me it's C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\AoW3\AoW3.exe)
8. Enable the Domain, Private & Public checkboxes.
9. Apply, Close.

I am also unable to connect, as were 3 of my friends (that was during the launch evening though, so it may have changed). I ran the game in debug mode and got this:

Just for extra information, windows firewall is disabled and I run Kaspersky firewall instead (aow3.exe is fully allowed). I am on a university network, but I have never had a single issue connecting to any other game while on it. I won't be pleased if you say I cannot play multiplayer simply because you used a multiplayer setup that is incompatible with certain networks. I am hoping there is a simple solution to this problem because I was looking forward to playing with my friends

For anyone experiencing issues i suggest trying Hamachi. Just download the unmanaged version from Hamachi website, install it, create a network and have your friends connect to it. We've had loads of issues with other games with my friends and Hamachi has solved them every single time. It basically creates a VPN with up to 5 people (free version). I haven't tried it with AoW3 as I haven't had any issues with it but I bet it works with this game aswell.
Try it out and post the results and maybe we'll have a workaround for anyone with connectivity issues.

I am afraid, that you need to rewrite the code for multiplayer in game.... too many people who play everyday online cannot even login

I forgot to mention that if you choose to try Hamachi it'll probably help you with making "local" games as it creates a virtual local network between you amd your friends. Will probably have no effect on "online" games but you should be able to play with your friends with a virtual local network with Hamachi.
jpartala 1 kwietnia 2014 o 3:01
After many hours of trying to get the multiplayer working finally resetting my router to default settings fixed it. According to debug I couldn't connect to the port 14800 but no idea why. Firewall was disabled, router had and still has UPnP, Ports were forwarded but are NOT forwarded now, DMZ did not help not enabled now. I tried all the ports, nothing worked. So there seems to be some other router based problem here.
Cake 1 kwietnia 2014 o 3:12
Sadly Johnny, Hamachi and other virtual local networks do not work. No games appeared for me or my friends. The only local games that worked were two of my friends who live in the same house and are on the same network. We tried Hamachi and Tunngle. I have also seen other people say they have tried others with 0 success.
Raven™ 1 kwietnia 2014 o 3:26
If this many people are having problems it's clearly not our routers. AOW3 needs to get their act together if this many people have problems going online. I've spent HOURS with the same problems these people have had and don't feed me the BS that it's my router because like them even Hamachi doesn't work. We are players who simply want to have access to a feature of a game that we paid for. Come on.

AOW3 goofed their multiplayer system. That's probably what it is at this point. Please fix it for god sake.

I just tried this but it didn't work. Full factory reset didn't work for me..

This I have to agree with. You're brutally honest, but you're right. I paid for this feature. I don't think they should be going idle right now. I stayed up 30 hours waiting on them to get this mp right (worked 12 hour nightshift, came home at 7:30a.m, stayed up until 9p.m. working with them..) I think they feel its something with my router as they keep telling me to send my debug log to them for analysis.. How about you guys look at your side and see why p2p won't allow my router to see your servers?

Hamachi does not work because your game registers on the IP that you authenticate to the AoW servers with. Basically, you do not see local games because even with Hamachi you are not on a "local network" as far as the game is concerned. Yet another implementation of "online only" gameplay that has ruined gaming.

FAIL
Mysterio 1 kwietnia 2014 o 4:36
Could someone at Triumph explain to me why other peer-to-peer programs are able to navigate my hardware configuration to connect to peers while AoW3 can't? If one program's able to do it, but yours is not, your program's the problem.
Space 1 kwietnia 2014 o 4:47
Update: If you own an Arris Modem, you have a second firewall.

1)Open modem.

2) Type in: http://192.168.0.1/ Press Enter

3)Log in - Username: admin Password: password

4)Navigate to firewall, and untick the box that enable/disables it.

5)Scroll down to the bottom and hit "apply."

That might work for you, but for me, no luck.

[07:42:01]Open connection test failed
[07:42:04]Requesting connection test on port: 14800
[07:42:04]Open connection test failed

Why is this failing?

I tried every step again with the firewall on my modem OFF, but still nothing. . I'm sorry, but this has to be an issue on the developers side.

The only other thing I can think of is bridging my nat settings, but I'm not sure what that does 100%, and when I do try it, it sets my connection to LIMITED on all networks.
