How does the underground work?
Started my first game with the underground mechanic actually turned on. How does it work? How do I get down there?

It's basically a second layer of the map, but it's smaller than the upper layer (which means when you move underground, you are moving around a larger portion of the above ground). You either start underground (such as Dwarves can) or you find a tunnel entrance that you can move up and down from. Overall, it acts similar to the rest of the map, other than it can have reduced movement for non-underground races, there is lava down there, and there are no hearts to find.

So the only way to enter it is through tunnel entrances?

Edit: I found some tunnel entrances. I understand how this works now.

Some entances can be hard to see, if you zoom out to the strategic layer they are represented by double arrows.

And if you get the Shadow Realm expansion, you get a third layer
HIGHLY Recommended
