It requires a bit of modding skill.
If you do a search here, I made a mod for someone to replace one of the game sounds, and at the same time found I could do stuff like only play music on the strategic map, but disable it in tactical battles etc.
That would be the sort of thing you'd need to do.
There are a few workshop mods that mess with the sound too, but unlikely to be exactly what you require.
The general principle was explained by Sikbok. I'll see if I can find the link for you.

I can make a mod to do that for you if you wanted?
You just want to disable the DLC tactical music right? If so, I can get that done pretty easily.
Does anyone who has music on in this game (I usually have it turned off completely, so no idea) know if the tracks are repeated in a strict rotational order, or are they chosen at 'random' in a sort of 'shuffle' mode?
That would be very kind, Thanks ^^ As far as I can tell, the only new tactical song is called "Crimson Cacophony" from the halfling dlc. Correct me if im mistaken, I wouldnt want to delete any good songs..
Do you only have Golden Realms installed? If so, yes, that's the only 'tactical' music for that DLC.
I'm curious, (as I said before I don't usually have the music on), do you ever hear Trials of Fortitude play? Like, in a long battle? As those DLC tactical tracks are around 3 minutes or so.
The other option is to replace Crimson Cacophony and the Eternal Lords tactical with brief sound effects (I can't find a one shot almost silent effect - only loops), so that it will revert to the default OST tactical music.
Your call.
I'm off out now to my daughter's house for dinner, but I'll be back later this evening, and will update the thread with files and instructions on how to use the mod.
It's pretty easy mate. Don't worry. :)
I'll update the thread when done, with instructions.
BTW, I forgot to mention earlier when you said you also had Eternal Lords.
The 'tactical music' for that is just one track also like Golden Realms, called 'Strategic-Eternal Lords Main Theme'.
That's a 4 minute 32 sec file. So if / when that plays it will be a while getting back to the OST playlist, I would assume.

Instructions:
Start AOW3 until you see the AOW3 launcher screen.
Click the 'User Content' tab.
Click Package Manager.
In the new window, go to the File menu and choose Import (not open) and browse to the .taf file you downloaded.
You should see a message saying it has been successfully imported to your user content folder.
Exit the package manager window.
Now, exit the launcher!
Start the game again, and again click on the 'User Content' tab in the launcher.
Make sure the 'No Crimson Cacophony' entry is filled in. It's orange when filled in here (GOG version).
Click Play. :)
You should never hear Crimson Cacophony again - in-game anyway. ;)
Don't worry about a warning message when you load previous saves saying that there might be incompatibilities or whatever. Make a new save, and that message won't occur again.
Let me know if it's working OK.
