Btw, I'm assuming this is the first time you've downloaded the game on this laptop. Is that correct?
Got it. You have to run the launcher as administrator.
No I've downloaded this game before on this laptop. Yes I have restarted the laptop as well. I'll try a reinstall next, but if that doesn't work is there anything I should try next?
Note: just uninstalled, used CCleaner to remove leftover files, still gives me the same message upon a reinstall.
Which launcher do you mean? The AoW3 launcher? or the Steam launcher? I tried running Steam as an admin and it didn't work, and I couldn't find the AoW3 launcher in the files.
AOW3launcher.exe It's in you game folder with your AOW3.exe. It doesn't have a fancy icon which makes it hard to spot.
Soon as I made it run as admin everything worked like a charm. Dev's need to make this plain to people with the new build of Win10 otherwize many more will be having the same problem with game not starting.
No I just tried the other two games, both of them boot up fine, so far it has just been AoW3
No I've never even tried to mod the game. I've been happy enough with the base game, and I do not mod most games TBH.
I went looking for that file. It's stuck in steamapps -> downloading file. I've tried to move it manually into the common -> AoW3 folder, but it tells me I need permission to move it. It starts as long as I start it from the dowloading file, but if I do that, it has none of the stuff that I've done, and also doesn't include the DLC that I've purchased.
As said this looks like a Steam issue not downloading the game properly. We can help with any remaining issues after the game is downloaded properly.
You might want to check if there is an update for Steam, or even reinstall Steam entirely (and make sure the program files Steam is removed).
However I would check with Steam Support first if they know why the game is stuck in steamapps -> downloading file.
Thanks, I'll check in with them to see if they have a fix. I'd hate to have to completely uninstall steam, but ♥♥♥♥ happens.
Thanks for trying to help out though and pointing me in the right direction! Love the game, can't wait to check Planetfall out!
