Is AOW III Mac 64-bit or 32-bit?
The subject is the question... will AOW III work after macOS 10.13 or do you need to keep an older Mac/OS combination around to play it?

I am running it on 10,13,4 curently. As Im sure your are aware Apple is phasing out 32-bit. I believe that most Apple destops (mac mini, powerbooks and macbook pro laptops from Mid 2012 on are 64-bit. Just check Apples website.

It appears that AoW 3 is 32-bit. I can check the logs later today, but im almost poitive.

According to Apple, “The last macOS release to support 32-bit apps without compromise is macOS High Sierra.” No one outside of Apple knows what this means.

AoW3 is 32-bit, so is the steam client... LoL

Hi,

Yes, AoW3 is a 32bit application.

At the moment we've not scheduled making a 64bit version of the game, as making that is non-trivial.

Apple's communication on the subject have not been very clear, so its hard to base draw any conclusions on what they plan to support. I'd assume they have something planned for backwards compatibility.

Looks like they don't do backwards compatibility on the M1. And here I thought I wouldn't have to compete with my wife for access to the old Mac. Any chance of an M1 version, mayhap? It's a wonderful game that never gets old.

I am glad that devs still read (and write) here in this forum. :)

(... and I am glad to have Win).

Hi sikbok, do you think it's possible to look at creating 64bit build for Mac, like with Planetfall?

With the rising popularity of the M1 platform, I think it would be good to introduce these new Mac users to this gem of 4X fantasy...especially if AoW 4 is in the works. :)
