Ideas how to beat the game in Frostling Necromancer campaign?
I have 150h gaming experience in the game and played through other aow campaigns without diffculty but to beat the FN camp is nearly impossible to me. very early in the first scenario you get attacked by your 2 neighbors with much better armies than you have. Even on average diffculty this scenario is for me not to manage. Did anybody win this without cheat or reload?

Yeah, on hard. Tho I already beat it on Normal before.

Thing is, unlike any other mission it's actually a good plan to build up a bit before attacking. When you do attack, I advice scouting out and attacking the theocrat first.

I had good success building silver medal witches, and in one city silver medal frostguards. Combination will totally wipe out any resistance I ever encountered, since you'll be having Greater Life Steal on the guards and Heal Undead to keep them going longer. I reccomend either Yeti's or Bone Collectors against the Shadow Stalkers, but they're not that much of an issue - being frost immune, you ignore half their damage. A reaper with Savage Rage from that Tigran also helps.

Just gonna mention, like all AoW campaign maps there are things hidden around the place, which you might want to look for. The wiki page lists some of them; the comments section lists many more. So if you feel the desire to find these things by yourself, I certainly wouldn't look at the comments section there.

Indeed. There are some very helpful things in this scenario to find: (mild spoilers)

1) A free Bone Dragon.
2) An extra hero, which will follow you for the rest of the campaign.
3) A fourth ruined city you can reanimate.
4) A way to break the alliance between your enemies and make them fight eachother.

Less hidden, but still very helpful, are the many treasures that can be found on the sea. Once you liberate the city on the bridge to the south, you'll get a warship that can gather up all these treasures. There are many Dire Penguins and bears that will attack your ship, but you can easily beat those in tactical combat by kiting. (I.E. running away whilst shooting.) Just make sure not to auto-resolve anything.

More generally, in this campaign as in any other necromancer game, it REALLY helps to level your leader up quickly and give him the (lesser) reanimate dead ability, the control undead ability and the heal undead ability. I think you can also just get the Inflict Ghoul Curse ability before hitting the level cap, which is a major game-changer. (make sure to save up some skillpoints.) With these abilities and the usual cadaver-spawning tricks, you can make an army out of the enemies you fight, and it will really change the way the game plays out. (If you're lucky, you can even find Meandor's Autobiography in the poorly defended Castle of the Lich King to the south, which will give a second hero the Infict Ghoul Curse ability.)

I know I'm not supposed to necro 4 year old threads, but what bone dragon and what hero? I pinned the third guy in his throne city and strip searched the entire map but didn't find either.
No worries, I don't think we have a no-necro rule here. Old info is still valid.

Besides, if there's any thread where necromancy is on topic...

what bone dragon and what hero?

You're a necromancer. Guess how a necromancer would find a hero?

Look in the Hall of the Forefathers.

As for the bone dragon: that one is really hard to find. You need to visit the shrine of the Skull Lord (I think) after you've raised all your cities. Or maybe visiting it three times.

The dragon thing is buried in the comments on the wiki article linked above actually. I think Gloweye missed it when writing.

Just recently played the campaign again. Confirmed you must activate the shrine near the southern city 3 times to summon a bone dragon. The sorcerer hero is in the Hall of the Forefathers near the middle city.
