Anyone did purist Naga City?
I did purist Vicious Steel and Dragon Isles, now I'm trying Naga City but I'm having difficulties. What do you think is the best class for the purist run? Any tips?

I haven't cleared purist badge for Naga City but I haven't really tried that many times too, so just sharing some thoughts. I only attempted it when it was for a PQI and if I remember correctly, I have gotten quite close to the end, only left the last Snake Prince boss.

Personally, I would think Goblin Thief would be quite good, the extra shops, glyph, gold, powerups, and potions that restore both bars, and the extra damage vs enemies with full HP all help tons. Plus goblin race can do wonders when you just need that bit of xp for another ding.

I am sure people would also recommend the Rogue since he is much of a powerhouse vs the bosses. Only troublesome part is getting enough HP for him and levelling up on the top. Normally, Dwarf or Orc are the races recommended for Rogue.

Tinker might also be quite good since there are more shops. Basically, if you are able to buy some or any of these items: Dragon Soul, Crystal Ball, Fire Heart, Witchalok Pendant, Balanced Dagger (if you get it early and mostly good for the top), the bottom part would be easier.

I would say there is a bit of luck involved with the glyphs that you get. Alpheesik (pardon the spelling) and/or Halpmeh are great for regen fighting. Lemissi may be useful for the bottom for accessing all the extra blackspace. Bysseps, Getindare, and maybe Endiswall to bring below if you have no other better options (glyphs or items).

My own purist victory in Naga City was with the Human Tinker. If you like, you can read my convoluted, overly-wordy write-up here:

One good class not yet mentioned is the Crusader. The extra altar perk spawns one random altar (randomly placed) topside, which gives you the huge advantage of gathering piety and boons early on. If you pick an Orc Crusader and find a Glowing Guardian altar early, you're well on your way to victory (plus, the immunity to debuffs is a very strong perk that will save you resources).

Finally, my favourite class for purist runs (and a very strong class in general) is the Wizard. Human, Gnome, Elf, or Orc are good choices depending on your preferred approach. Starting with knowledge of glyph locations helps immensely for making the rest of the exploration more useful, and having effectively more inventory space + a mana discount make approaching the arena easier.

A general tip: unless you go the crusader route, I recommend spamming glyphs as much as possible topside, then unlocking Mystera and beginning worship, which will likely get you 100 piety or close to that. From there, you can either get useful boons (Mystic Balance!) from her or convert to another deity with what will likely more piety than what you would have gotten otherwise (if you can spare the extra 20 gold at that time, of course).

I think I smashed it with a Fighter, IIRC.

Crusader is a bit OP on that dungeon because you get past the no-altars-topside problem. Schachter - cool tip on the MA front. I'm terrible at late-game god-entry boons.

Heh, how could I forget about the crusader, thanks for the tip. Tinker is too much luck based for my tastes though.
